Why care which club and team is “best” in MA

So much trash talking about teams on MA board being the best team. Don’t you know it’s a lot of luck? I mean really who knows where the most talented players from the state will come from. Could be Amherst, Lowell, Milton it’s all really just random. And then for talent to land all in the same club is impossible. The focus on teams being the best and clubs being the best puts everyone in MA against one another instead of working together to put the best players out their Nationally from our state. There is no doubt we need clubs to get the competitive environment kids need to grow and to get recognized outside our region. But with so many clubs we are not putting together the “best” players and teams to compete with other states.

Are you the owner of TS? Trying to restart the site? Isn't this the question that gets asked all the time and then the crowd launches into the boys MLS development academy (Bolts Revs) and the host of clubs at the younger ages....only to be followed by the girls ECNL with its multiple levels...stars vs nefc vs...?

Only to be followed by the......
My childs teams is better than yours.
We get more for our money.
Why doesn't the state pay for it all?

There....I started and completed the entire thread.. How about starting up another?

Some truth. But in real life only a small number of unbalanced people care, it’s just that they all post on this board.

      This suggests something though:

“ And then for talent to land all in the same club is impossible. ”

Actually, The ‘who is the best team’ discussion is actually a who is the best at concentrating good players on a single team. The big clubs are a machine to do that, mostly just by being big. It’s not that they are especially good at anything else, like development or coaching. And the kids and families give up other things to be on that team, there are trade offs.

Don't forget that in addition to having the best teams they also play in the best league and your kids have no chance to ever succeed.

Maybe I don’t come on this site often enough as I have a job. But I haven’t seen a thread like this suggesting we do better on mass to unite the best of the best players. It really isn’t about the best teams or clubs. It’s about spotting the best talent all over mass and putting them on one team at every age group from u11 and up boys and girls.

Does ANYONE care about the performance of a state team that doesn’t exist?
ODP State team competes regionally for purpose of identifying regional pool.
Does market want a single pyramid that excludes far more than it includes?

This post is yet another filled with bad assumptions and gross misunderstanding of what the market wants. As for question posed in the title of the thread, the answer is sinple: Human Nature

Yup. Way too many Mias out there for parents to accept that theirs didn’t make it. Market wont tolerate a single pyramid - way better to have lists. State Cup should be reinvigorated tho

Why should anyone care whether MA collects all their best kids on one team and sends them out to beat teams from other states? That is NOT the objective of youth soccer - for anyone! No one cares whether the best team of MA-developed kids can beat the best group of kids from CA, TX, NJ or VA. It's irrelevant.

Families want their kids to learn and play the sport at a competitive level that suits them. The families of the best players want their kids to get exposure and opportunities to play in college, and use soccer to get access to the schools they're targeting. Others want to have fun, play with friends, be active, etc. NO ONE GIVES A RAT'S ***** ABOUT THE STATE OF MASSACHUSETTS SOCCER VS. OTHER STATES. No one. Do I need to repeat it? No one.

Wow I’m always suspect of angry people who type in all caps.
And your wrong. People do think beyond their state and region if they want US soccer to improve. Not everyone is narrow minded and self centered.

Its a easy recruiting tool for clubs to say they have the #1 team in Massachusetts in a division. Everyone wants to go a top team. Select has always used the got soccer points to say they are the best team and thats how they recruit. Nothimg wrong with that and makes eecruiting kids much easier.

Yes I’m sure because Got Soccer Points is very reliable!
(Haha must be a select parent.)

Poster didn’t claim gotsoccer points were reliable.
