New Guidelines - Same Rules for Out of State Travel/Teams

The updated guidelines have been posted. I have looked that closely but I do see that our great state will continue to forbid out of state teams from playing at any Massachusetts facility AND will require players who travel out of state to play soccer to comply witht he Massachusetts Travel Order.

Hard to imagine these are updated again before the start of the ECNL/GA seasons in under 4 weeks.

If we can have a Super Bowl we can have travel soccer games.
Test the kids weekly. Wear masks, Reduce spectators.

Which scientific study has shown a correlation of infections to soccer? Oh. BTW, if teachers and students can go back to school and sit in a classroom (and CDC has now declared that teachers do not need vaccinations because there is no correlation to spread in schools), cant we apply the same logic to soccer?

And these rules are the reason why our teams will continue to be beat when we actually leave our region. If we are playing with one foot tied behind our back how can our players compete? then they are sent to Florida and fail. Not due to coaching or player skill due to the BS Mass riles setting our players back.

This is also the reason people in the the other lanes of stop and go traffic seem to be going faster than you.

I haven't read the old guidelines closely, but this jumped out at me:

"For the avoidance of doubt, a series of games, “jamboree” “weekend series” “showcase” or tournament style play (one team playing multiple games vs. multiple opponents in a single day or over the course of a weekend), is still a tournament even if there is a lack of an overall prize, scores, eliminations, brackets, or otherwise."

Sounds like they've wised up to the "this isn't a tournament, it's just a series of friendlies" events.

That was in place back in the fall. That’s why these “friendlies” only allowed for one game per day.

So are we all heading to NH for our tournaments again this spring?
As for the non-tournaments in MA, well, that's pretty boring.
Slowly killing soccer in New England. Time to move to Florida.

Some teams are still allowed back to back, so it’s still all over the place

Not if, as the original poster indicates, the travel restrictions are still in place. While you can technically head out of state to play you still have to follow the travel requirements which means testing/quarantining even for a short stay. Realistically, I don't see teams doing this.

Percent positivity rises equals get restrictions in immediately. Percent positivity drops equals keep restrictions in place. In addition to the studies that show soccer isn’t a method of transmission. Makes perfect sense.

Might be a century before this coronavirus is under control.Positive test results are great if you actually had something that stopped you from getting reinfected.Better to expend all avail vaccine on at risk folks and stop harping about the positive cases.

I've toyed with the idea, but there are significant drawbacks. Retired military and was stationed in three different areas of Florida. They're all f-ing hot and gawd-awful humid for a lot of the year. Plus, if you want to live someplace nice-ish near a coast, you have to factor in the hurricanes. The lakes have f-ing alligators. And then there are the native Floridians. And tourists. Even with all that, I still go back and forth in my head.
