    College Showcase

Hi All, Currently we are offering our college showcase the first weekend in December. Reading the NY and NH guidelines it seems that players are allowed, but teams are not. Please read it for yourself and decide, just wanted to let you know we are still planning our events.

What is the point, as college scholarships will be cut in half next year???

Are college coaches allowed to attend in person? I know that these showcases can be taped and viewed online.

this might be a good thing for regular americans. have ever seen the player rosters of many college soccer programs? You would be very lucky to find any kid born in the USA.
Most college roster spots go to foreigners.

Very true on the boys side and increasingly true in the girls side, in about 4-5 years the girls side will be filled with intl players.

NCAA has limits, but there are crafty ways around this. The guidelines should be stricter and I do see them addressing this at some point.

Not entirely true - it varies a lot by program. Many men's teams will have 4-7 on average, women's much less but that is growing. In most countries you can go go school for free or practically for free, so they either need to be financially well off or be getting big $ to be able to afford US colleges. That leaves few scholarship $ for the rest. D3s have very few because there's no athletic money.

I feel bad for the people that have invested so much money and time as more and more exposure opportunities will be nullified by the virus and the domino effect of recruiting classes piling into each other will also greatly reduce available scholarship $$. Tough environment fir the next 1-2 years....

Yes there will be a ripple effect for a few years, on top of schools re-evaluating their athletic teams and budgets overall

Major reset button needs to be hit for youth soccer and for as unfortunate as COVID has been it may lead families to reevaluate travel, time and money spent chasing scholarships that no longer exist at the same levels as pre-Covid.

That's not a bad thing. It really had gotten out of control and soccer participation was already slipping for all those reasons. If we want more kids playing and loving the game, becoming life long fans, we need to bring the fun back. There's plenty of places for the top players to play (too many perhaps).

Agreed, the business aspect of it has completely ruined the game and the experience for so many players and families. A couple top level academies should be enough but having 20-30 representing that is ludicrous.

So is the plethora of supposed "top" leagues. The US soccer system is anything but a clearly defined pyramid; it looks more like a preschooler's finger painting
