    Nefc west

Is this fraction of NEFC ever going to join the ECNL or even the GA on the girls side. Have heard the coaching is good but the league they play in not so much.

Under NEFC so not a snowballs chance in hell they would be allowed.

No, it's completely ridiculous that a club would put two teams into a single, competitive league. If there are players in this program capable of playing in a league that you mention, they would be invited to the main club to do so.

NEFC and SSS both have 2 teams each in DPL. And neither NEFC team is West.

It’s unfortunate. It’s not just NEFC West but the whole western region. There are no ECNL slots or MLS Next teams or whatever “higher” level of play. The closest thing available was Western with an NPL spot that doesn’t exist anymore. When does the west get the respect they deserve. Players/parents from the west should not have to be traveling over an hour or more to any training center for higher level of play. It’s irrelevant which of the 50 clubs in the West should get such a spot so long as one of them does.

We are in the east and are traveling an hour to get to higher level training.

At least 1/3 of my kid’s ECNL team drives over an hour to get to practice. That is not unusual.

Prior to the NEP NPL teams moving to DPL, NEFC had one designated NPL A slot for their "club-wide" team and usually had at least one regional team in NPL B. AFAIK the NPL B slot was based on promo/relegation from Premiership, so it wasn't fixed to one team. I don't know if DPL is just giving them a total of 2 slots now.

The west is a large area. Our family would need to drive more than 1.5 hours to reach the central teams - could be more during rush hour. Not happening. That's how the west keeps the best players from being poached.

Yes, for some families, an hour, hour and a half or more is not possible to reach ECNL/GA teams. However, there are kids that drive from ME, VT, RI, NH to these teams. It’s a choice either way.

Also—keep in mind that the NEFC west teams are playing in NEP. I’m sure there are quality players on those teams, but they are playing in a division that is 2 levels below GA/ECNL. The pace of the games is different. Not to say that there are not kids that could do it, but dropping existing NEFC west teams into GA/ECNL (as the OP suggested) would not go well. Those teams could always play against the NEFC GA teams to get an idea of the level.

You are limiting your scope to just NEFC West. There are at least four to five “major” clubs in the western region. If you took the best players from just those four clubs and created a GA/ECNL level team they would compete. I am not saying they would win every game or every bracket and yes there would be some fails, but they would compete. The East can sustain two even three GA/ECNL level clubs just based on numbers. I think it would be prudent to put a higher caliber club in the Springfield area. Pipe dream I am sure.

If you build it, they will come.

As has been discussed, the leagues aren't interested in getting every good player. The clubs are interested in getting every decent player that sits within a certain Region, and since they run the leagues they make the rules.

You should move if that's what you want.
