    There should be no fans at youth games

    Not only does this help in the COVID battle, but kids might actually enjoy playing without parental scrutiny

    I think the coach scrutiny and second agenda imposed on players is worse than any parent. At least the parent is there to take care of the kid. Something the coach could never do.

      It's not the coach's job to take care of the kid...Their job is to teach them the game...

          As a club coach for over 20 years, I am personally offended by this comment. Its certainly a coaches job to protect/take care of his or her players.

          If a coach feels that way-----run away fast that club/coach isn't doing your player any favors.

          That is a terrible attitude to have as a coach.

            I 100 % agree. As a coach, you are primarily teaching a child the game, but secondarily you are providing so much more which is usually more important in life. There are life lessons, there is mentorship, there is sometimes just being there and always there is protecting the welfare of the child while you are present.

                How is my kid going to know what to do if I am not yelling at him from the sidelines all game?

                1. Tackle;
                2. Pass it
                3. Switch it;
                4. Shoot
                5, Take him on;
                6. push up;
                7. get back;
                8. More intensity.

                It takes a lot of my energy to get all these out in one game. He could never play without my instruction.

                      Lawn Chair? Who has time for a lawn chair? I have to be up and down the sideline screaming instructions. If the ref makes a bad call against our team I also have to be able to respond to that.

                      There is no sitting at games. It's up and down the sidelines for me.
