DA/MLS pay to play has always been bad but now has got completely out of hand. Whole teams disrupted by players with parents as donors, coaches, board members etc. Reform is needed if US soccer is ever to work. Badges should not be given to clubs that operate in red and survive only on "donations". Donations should go to a national pool allocated for a certain number of scholarships per team, but that should be handled by the league not the team coach. Current system stinks. Who agrees?

Covid accelerated the demise of BDA. MLS clubs are only interested in developing a few high potential players, and one point they were paying to develop 80 or so players. It's no wonder they wanted out. As it was 2/3 of BDA was pay to play. Now it practically all is.

original poster - I am ok with all parents paying their 3-4k. What stinks is the guys paying tens of thousands to get their undeserved kids spots. Thats what most of these "board members" are doing.

Been like this for years. If da games were played with real international refs, there would be a dozen yellow cards and 3 or 4 reds every game! Most games are brutal and robotic.
