I’m fed up with the CIAC. They have been all over the place on this since the beginning. Postponing the remaining post season, until later in the spring to only cancel. Then postponing the spring season to move it to the end of the spring to then try to move it to June and beyond to only cancel it. Then they allowed spring teams to condition in June. Then they allowed fall sports to condition in August. The fall season start time has moved three times. Having cohorts of 10 or 15 kills any chance of tryouts. Evaluating players without the ability to be in a game situation is a joke. Yet right as I type this high school summer leagues are wrapping up. Football and volleyball are all but done. CIAC is a leaderless organization. Trying to puff it’s chest while trying to appease everyone. Everyone in that organization needs to go.

CIAC is a joke. No balls. Literally.
CIAC should have stood up and declared we are moving forward with a fall season. That would have been leadership. This waffling back and forth to try and appease everyone is a sign of weakness.

If it doesn’t happen for some stupid reason, then kids will just play club soccer.
All these same kids will be playing sports one way or another. I’m not sure that those rallying against HS sports in the fall realize that? Kids will still be playing sports and then they’ll be going to school with their classmates.
Unless Lamont rolls back restrictions (which he has no reason to) then Fall sports will absolutely happen, whether in the HS or in the private sector.

Maybe I'm wrong but weren't they always a toothless tiger ? Couldn't they just say its all on as usual and the districts can still just not participate, like Danbury, New Haven, Bridgeport, Hartford, whoevever etc. etc.. They provide the rules, regulations and timeline for competition but the schools have all the physical logistics to work out according to whatever model their using to return to school.

CIAC did originally give the go ahead then DPH had a fit they weren't consulted. Seems if any may suit it down its DPH, not CIAC.
My concern is they keep toying with everyone gor a few weeks, only to cancel right before the so called season starts or two games in. That's worse than pulling the plug now

Second, these decisions aren't just about athletes. The primary goal for districts and the state is to get all kids back in school as safely as possible AND to keep them there. That is complicated enough with adding sports into the mix.
Third, think about who the bulk of their constituents are - parents and residents who don't have athletes. Those people know colleges and even pros aren't running, or running normally. It's only natural they will question the sanity of HS sports. If a breakout is tied to athletic teams they will never hear the end of it. An outbreak also means no shot at winter or spring sports unless there's a vaccine miracle and every one has it by December (hint: that won't happen)
