Will there be any soccer in NY in 2020?

Does anyone think that any league will get playing time this fall?

unless schools release the use of their fields...you can kiss the season goodbye.

there simply not enough public parks available to accommodate all the clubs/teams on Long Island on saturdays and sundays (game days).

There are PLENTY of clubs that dont use the school fields. Soccer will 100% be played. LIJSL doesnt count.

LIJSL has by far the most clubs and much of the "premier" leagues are stocked with LIJSL based clubs that are using school fields.

There are so many club teams in NY they should make their own league and get some games going!

what is your definition of "plenty"? The fact is that most clubs play on school fields.

The majority of games played by NYCSL teams were played on school fields last year.

You are obviously a troll and/or an idiot.

the state of NY is going to have kids back in classrooms. Can they do that and not allow kids to play sports outside? Seems pretty absurd.

                    From BOTN Larry Miller post

Steve Shilling. I spoke to him in June and discussed refunds. Steve told me there will be no refunds since he claimed EDP spent the money. Moreover, Shilling also told me at that time if EDP Long Island teams cant use school fields that he has located fields in Secaucus NJ that will be designated as the home field for those LI teams.

If you are in EDP I think it's a go unless the politicans shut it down

Cuomo gave the "green light" based on a list of criteria.

Each School district has to determine if they will be able to meet the criteria to open schools.

Lawyers are looking into what the difference is between "leased" fields and "permitted" fields and what the implications and liabilities are.

knowing that lawyers get paid and charge by the hour, do not hold your breath waiting for an answer by September.

Good point. Add in the fact that while Cuomo can say schools are open and DiBlasio can do the same, teacher unions are going to be all over demanding that the safety measures they claim are going to be implemented actually are and that adds even more potential for litigation.

The fall is going to be a disaster. I think we're going to get a few friendlies, local tournaments and hopefully will play the bulk of league games in spring.

                          So....
                          No HS soccer
                          No college soccer
But youth leagues think it's ok? I guess cash is king.

you have to look at state by state incidence. ny has been down due a while. they should have been playing all summer

as fields are a team issue i assume the clubs without fields won't register teams.

Everyone is going to register teams hoping that they get their fields in time. If they don't get the fields, and the season is played anyway, those clubs will attempt to play with all away games or on neutral site fields.
