Our club is talking about traveling in December for tournaments. What do the soccer gods think of this possibility??? Currently, the large majority of the country is on the “do not visit” list. Why would anyone bank on traveling ( south) from nj in December???

Correct. Don’t bank on it. At least it’s drivable and don’t have to buy plane ticket.

It appears you are alluding to one of the Florida or NC tournaments in December.
Clubs that would do something like the Disney tournament would always have to discuss and plan well in advance, so now is the right to time to look at costs and options.
There is no such "do not visit" list. So you can remove that from your equation.
I have a strong suspicion that many of these lists and the media panic on Coronavirus will change drastically after the election on November 4th.
No matter who is govenor of NJ or POTUS clubs should plan put travel and have the team discuss vote on what and where to attend.
Heck by that time even the forum random question may change.

You can hope for the soccer tournament (I know I am), but I wouldn't count on it. There is most likely going to be a second wave in the winter (hopefully not), but maybe we'll have an effective treatment or people will have followed mask/social distancing requests and numbers are isolated.

There are and will be plenty of tournaments to clubs to choose.

That’s 120,000 dead 65 and older.
Only 30,000 between new born and 65.
There are 330 million people in the US. What should we do to slow the spread of a virus with a much lower infection rate than previously thought?

I agree once Trump is gone the media will be able to release the truth of his time in office. In 97 days when Trump and his administration are kicked out of office it will take some time to to move our country in the right direction.

I don't see large national tournaments happening any time in 2020. In state and possibly regional for the Northeast will happen once 20/21 Season starts next month. The South and West will be the same way. I am not saying that people will not try to have larger, national tournaments, but they won't be anything like there were previously.
A good portion of Club dues/fees is with the promise of 3/4+ tournaments a year. They are going to attend some (as long as it is permitted), but results are going to be all over the board. I think with attendance down, the groupings are going to be forced to merge more and many games will be lopsided.
That all said, I am just glad we are still playing at all.

There's too many unknown variables - what numbers are like around here, what numbers are like where you're going, whether or not school/college resuming brings back another surge, or none at all.
