    Still in Phase 1

With tryouts going on right now and the Phase 1 pause announced, what happens now? Can any practices happen? Are any fields available? Is everything still on pause?

Plenty of teams have been conducting practices for weeks in the metro area

Not sure how they’ve been able to or if they really care if it’s legit but they are teams not known for following league rules either

Whoa - SCA's approach to practices during social distancing is state of the art. The leadership, planning, and communication has been exceptional around this. Plus options for Zoom sessions too.

How was CU able to hold tryouts on THPD filed this week with Phase 1 still in place?

sca and oufc are not oysa members so no one to answer to. Having team training sessions in public parks all over the place for months so their five teams combined can play each other for the big opl 2 “State Cup” in April. All participants will get shiny six inch tall trophies and tell college coaches they are national champion winners.

SCA leased the PAA turf with exclusive rights for 5 years. All the social distancing requirements have been closely followed. My kid has had multiple training sessions a week with his team over the past few weeks. They also continue to offer virtual training that started in April. Lots of communication as well and easy access to additional training opportunities as well.

Not to mention a stockpile of busted shopping carts from the 205 Target we can dribble around while social distancing.

Did coaches have five year visas?

These type of posts were kind of funny pre-covid, really not now.

SCA parent told me they were taking social distancing seriously in their team training. Jo (ADF) told me they were having a very hard time renting fields right now; definitely implied they had not doing team training.

I am aware of ADF, SCA, PCU (I think) and UPDX coaches doing personal training. I think they should, as long as they can follow the rules (and think they can). Maybe there is a fine line between personal training when the groups get bigger and team training; will give poster benefit of doubt.

Long way of saying - can we hold off on the cough, winks and slander of clubs right now? If you have actual proof of someone violating in a material way phase 1 requirements, fine - but telling yourself someone else is cheating in the echo chamber we all live with during covid and then publicly bashing based on those stories - just the wrong time to be doing it.

Joa was indeed conducting semi practices under the “of tranings”

I am not worried about any of these teams, they need all the help they can get .

Notice ADF is winning anything now that the da teams are back? And SCA doesn’t even play in a proper league. Also lots of adf kids attending other team tryouts this week too.

The cough wasn’t Covid it was a wake up call to folks doing the wrong thing at the wrong time to make a buck, it was not slander or jealousy

-a UPDX parent who has to pay for ADF and SCA privates since Updx training is garbage.
                        Fixed that for you

So, how are CU and Thorns able to run tryouts and practices on THPRD fields while in Phase 1?

probably the same way Updx and sca are running practices and tryouts on private christian fields.
