    Ivies done

Multiple sources report Ivies have informed students no fall sports!

    #2
    It's official - https://www.newsweek.com/ivy-league-...s-2020-1516404

"Winter" sports won't be able to start officially until after the holiday break.

If the pro leagues are struggling to keep covid out with their isolation plans, extensive test etc + vast $ to spend, how can colleges keep it out?

Not losing a year of eligibility though. Perhaps they can play spring??

Or a 5th year? Moving to spring is logistically a nightmare but two potential options?

5th year would have to be somewhere else b/c Ivy League doesn't allow redshirts

Hahaha...so fastforward several years, employers will need back ups when their ivy employees decide to take off a session or two during cold and flu season. #learned helplessness through school adm

Who is going to pay for an extra year of college, especially an Ivy which has no athletic and merit money, just to play one more season?

If they offered it, um, probably all the people who can afford to pay in the first place! And, the ones who don't care they're paying 50K to be at home because they'll still get an Ivy diploma

No one is paying for that extra year. It would be for a 1yr graduate degree at a school that gives scholarships (at least that's the idea that some of the Ivy players are talking about). I think it's highly unlikely to work out that way for very many of them, since there will be an enormous glut of players with eligibility left and very few spots and $'s. Maybe a stud here or there might make something work out, but it will be a rarity in my opinion.

                    Yeah...like this guy. https://nypost.com/2020/05/31/accuse...ucated-lawyer/
Face it...ivy ed is losing it's shine. I have seen tougher administrators in elementary schools.

Sounds ideal actually. Blended teams marching to NCAA's.

No scholarships at Ivies, only financial aid. All your friends have graduated but you're going to hang around? It's one thing if you're trying to get scouted for pro NBA or NFL, but these are Ivy athletes.

wrong. all your friends are your teammates. the incoming freshmen just need to skip one semester along the way and they get to stay for the fall of 2025. a reasonable option that many will likely avail themselves of.

You don't have your finger on the pulse of the mindset of these student athletes.....if they are an athlete, their team is their friend group, so no, not all of them graduated. The players are tight and the friendships supersede just their class.

Um lemme see, hang out in paradise another year getting to play the game I love on mommy and daddy's payroll, OR get a job, and do hard adulting things....that's a no brainer for most.
