New league for NEFC & SSS????

    GDA has been cancelled.
SSS & NEFC's top girls teams played in GDA.
SSS & NEFC can't get into ECNL.
SSS & NEFC's second teams play in NPL.

If SSS & NEFC (along with the other displaced former GDA clubs in the north east) form a new league for their former GDA teams (say U12 and up) that stretches south to NJ or PA are GDA families excited about this?

    Three options:

Leave for ECNL if you can get a spot
Stay at NEFC/SSS and play in new league
Stay at NEFC/SSS and move down to second team (NPL) for more local travel.

    What is your game plan?

The smart option is to go back to playing in the NPL. This was the landscape just 3 years ago for most top teams and a few months ago for SSS. The inclusion of these players in the top team would make NPL just as competitive as it was prior to GDA. Less travel, similar competition is the way to go. College coaches will go where the talent is, doesn’t matter if it’s ECNL, DA or NPL. Maybe this will all lead to the end of this madness.

DPL is no where near the north east.

Actually I kinda think they will end up getting in.

If they do that will be a good thing for all of us in MA, but this has been frequently discussed on TS. Why would ECNL board want to? Why would Stars Scorpions approve it?

Neither SSS nor NEFC offers ECNL incremental geographic reach (Seacoast does), and no small business wants to stake their competition. Best play for Stars/Scorps is to recruit the better players from SSS/NEFC. And yes, as a Stars parent there ARE players at SSS/NEFC that are better than starters on Stars/Scorps. How many differs by age group. TS has been complaining about dilution and too many teams calling themselves "Elite". Well, here you go, Single Pyramid.

The only pyramid at work here Is the ponzi scheme of clubs selling soccer greatness to the same fools year after year.
There will be no soccer until 2021 and unless you decide to donate to your club, there will be no club.
Funny though, hypothetical question gets a Page and a half in a short period of time.
Here’s a hypothetical-will town soccer survive and pick up the broken pieces in a post club landscape?

They are only selling what parents want to buy. There will be soccer in 2020.
There will certainly be some adjustments, but you can continue to live under your doomsday cloud, and I will continue to believe in human ingenuity and marvel at our ability to adapt.

I agree there will be consolidation among the clubs, but Covid isn't going to kill youth nor professional sports. This experience only highlights the importance of Sports and community.

I marvel at the ability of clubs to sell pipe dreams.
There will be no Mass youth, h/s or college soccer in 2020.
What it should be highlighting is the excessive costs of both youth and professional sports. Maybe we should be paying the grocery clerk or truck driver $22 million a year, as they are way more important than any athlete
