Here is excellent model-just get through next 4-5 weeks

This model used by hospitals and is very respected. Fill in Connecticut near top for local stats. Peaks on April 10 and almost nothing by beginning May. We can only hope. April will be bad.

We will be earlier on the peak chart. Other areas won't see peaks until much later.

Thanks to Noo York. Should blocade the state and turn around Noo Yorkers at the border.

Proximity to Westchester and Westport super spreaders. Once it's in it's already too late. Didn't help that NY couldn't test and see how fast it was spreading. Most CT cases are along the metro north line. No state can keep it out, but how states deal with it is what matters

Things will be fine. Numbers are dropping daily. Yesterday was a huge drop. We will peak as a country in 4-5 days and start the downward trend. By Mid-April we will have flattened it out, have drugs to treat it and be on the way to a vaccine before next winter. And guess who will claim credit for getting it all done and moonwalk into a second term?

Stop drinking the Kool-Aid. Where are numbers dropping daily? We still don't have enough tests here in the US. People are sick and don't have access to tests and are getting turned away by doctors. We haven't even come close to hitting the peak.

                Projection looks reasonable
Like I have contended all along
It is comparable to a bad flu season
This model projects death toll of 82k for USA
Last year CDC estimate of Flu related deaths was 61k

It is like a bad flu season

We don’t close the country and trigger a recession for the flu

Do we have a good chance to do it perfectly? What about the republicans who still think it’s all just a hoax to make the prez look bad? Will they social distance too?

What we have not really seen yet is our attempt to treat patients.
With the FDA relaxing regulation on some existing drugs to experiment with their effectiveness in treatment of the virus, we will see some improvement in patients recovery. So I think the death rate will go down from what we are seeing right now.
I will not bet against the intelligence and resourcefulness of the American Doctors & Scientists

do you think all the Westport party crowd were republicans? don't be an ahole

the media did and continues to try and make the POTUS look bad on this- whats new?
the dems are also trying to score political points (ie. Pelosi's delay last week and her presser yesterday) again whats new?

I hope everybody stays safe- including people I disagree with politically- when they get better we can argue, until then I wish them nothing but a speedy recovery

the death rate is dropping because the testing is catching up- that has been stated on here for many weeks- now that we are treating people the recovery rate will increase faster
                          all good things

china has been BSing the world- they have over 50k deaths and have reopened their economy-no Bueno
hard to trust their info when the furnaces at their crematoriums haven't stopped burning for weeks- they will be the big loser here when this is over

Not the OP but you're watching too much MSM. There is plenty of testing. The problem is people that are not really effected at taking tests. 90% of the ~200K plus tested per day are testing negative. That is 180k out of 200k don't have it on a daily basis now.

Also there is evidence that the spread is slowing but not enough data points yet to make a trend:

Click "US" (upper left of screen), then "Daily Increase" (lower right of screen). Notice the flattening on the lower chart.

We only had 15 cases in the US and we’re told it would be down to zero a long time ago. I’m sure we’re down to zero now and it’s just fake news reporting otherwise. There’s only one person who tells the truth all the time in this country and he’s always right.
