Due Process and Impeachment Errors Addressed

    1) Impeachment is a political process, not a legal one. So the due process requirements in our law enforcement and judicial system are not analogous. Impeachment is conducted in a manner established by House and Senate rules.

    2) The current House rules were determined and approved by a GOP House majority. So if the GOP is screaming that the rules are unfair, they need to look in a mirror and ask themselves why.

    3) If you insist on drawing a parallel with the legal system, the current impeachment inquiry is in the investigatory phase, not the Grand Jury phase. They are interviewing witnesses to gather information. The suspect of an investigation is never entitled to be present in a witness interview.

    4) Impeachment is a constitutional and therefore, according to the highest law in the land, a legal and legitimate remedy to protect the country against corruption and/or foreign influence in our government.

    5) Impeachment is not some nefarious extra-legal method (see #4) of overturning the will of the electorate because one political party is pissed off they did not win an election. If that were the case, we'd have seen a lot more impeachments since 1789. In fact, only 19 federal officers have been impeached in 230 years; 15 in the judiciary, a cabinet secretary, a senator, and two presidents - neither of which were convicted and removed from office.

If you insist on using any premise contrary to the facts above, your arguments should not be taken seriously here or anywhere else.

Kinda surprised this didn't generate some foaming at the mouth "but but but whataboutism" from the mouth breathers around here.

It will eventually .... Cons don't think well on their feet... Look at the Keystone Con invasion of the hearing last week... they think rules don't apply to them
