Does anyone know how the new rules have shaped the recruiting process for the age groups affected? How has the 2021 class in our area navigated the new rules? Any exciting commitments? What have been some of the challenges for the 2022s and 2023s?

It's easy - 2021s are the only ones allowed to be in direct communication with coaches now. Some top players were already committed prior to all the rule changes. Better D1s will be pretty much done at this point, low level D1 and D3 still going on through junior year.
All the 22s and 23s can do is send emails, bios, schedules and hope coaches come to watch and put them on their short lists. No direct communication until June coming out of sophomore year. No official visits until Aug 1 of that same summer
Anxious parent are going to have to adjust to the new reality - your player won't be recruited as a freshman or even a sophomore, nor should she be. The new rules are there for a reason - for players to mature athletically and academically so that they and coaches are better matched.

Prepare to send more money on ID camps and travel.
Lower you expectations that your club would have to manage more communication on behalf of the coaches, and chances are you will not find out that a club is interested unless your club has someone dedicated to communication with college coaches.
Prepare to freak out when your kid is injured during sophomore or junior year as the timeframe to showcase has just shrunk.

Yes the injury risk during that timeframe is awful. My D's BF is going through it and we feel terrible for her.

2021/2022/2023 Recruitment
Originally posted by Unregistered View PostWell, that's made up number and is only close for the men's side. But point taken - grades matter much more. Not only will it dictate academic options and possibly get you a lot more $, but coaches prefer players who can get admitted easily and won't struggle in college.
1st, Its not a made up number for the men (i don't know what it is for girls).
2nd, There is a correlation between The top level athletes and hi IQ. Most Hi level athletes are extremely smart and very coachable. They may/maynot be great in mathematics per say but have great memory, when great Athleticism only gets you so far,,,you have to be smart as well.

2022s should be researching schools for academic fit and discuss with their coaches what level of play would you best thrive in. Figure out a dozen schools that fit both criteria and reach out to those schools.
2023s should focus on grades and begin the research process.

I see that both JS and BS have been invited to NT camp in California, but BS is listed as a player for Met Oval in Queens, how is that possible?? She is rostered as an ECNL play on the NYCFC/WC u17 team, hahaha, very slippery Paul, well done!!
