He does not. If he is caught his club could be disciplined or kicked out of DA. We had one try and the minute the coach found out, he cut the kid. It was the DA team captain and leading goal scorer but it didn't matter.
If he is doing it, report him to the club and he will be gone. More playing time for your kid.

Some try to be discovery players and then resign from DA to play high school and then go back to active DA after the high school season is completely over.

DA relaxed the rules to keep kids from passing on DA due to the rule. One more thing in the dumb competition between DA and ECNL.

Only ways:
- Get a legal waiver for private school players. Must be able to approve playing for your private school is either a financial necessity or some kind of school requirement. Must be approved by your club and USSF. Must be filed for in August before the season starts
- Not be put on an official DA roster until you're done with your HS program. How? Well, in parts of the US that have HS in the fall it's easy. Just go back to club in November. Elsewhere you could be listed as a part time DA player on your club's B team, then magically get "pulled up" onto DA when HS is over. Both are legal loopholes - players can get added any time during the year up until early April - but would require your club giving you the wink wink in private.
- With either scenario above you cannot play HS and DA at the same time. Players have been suspended when they get busted. A girls team in NY just got hammered because the club told girls they could do both and had them on DA rosters. Multiple players are suspended and the teams have to forfeit games. When it's happened elsewhere it's pretty limited, but this club it was a systemic policy.

But riddle me this - WHY would you want your kid doing both? I agree the no HS rule is stupid overall, but there's very good reasons not to be doing both at the same time - burnout, exhaustion and much greater overuse injury risk. the HS schedule is brutal, then you want to do club on top of that? Granted, in FL the winter HS season is generally quiet for DA clubs, but it's still going to be soccer 7 days a week plus the inevitable conflicts (try telling your club or HS coaches you have to miss one for the other). Do one or the other and if you pick HS do it legally

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostNo they haven't. Do both at the same time you risk being suspended and your team forfeiting games.

I. Ineligibility
If a player takes part in an official game despite being ineligible, the team may be sanctioned by
forfeiting the game. Additional sanctions may be imposed against the player or the club.
NY board said players have been suspended for 2 games each with suspensions noted on game records. Not clear how many games will be forfeited, but at least two teams have had one game forfeits each. Supposedly it was so widespread they had to stagger player suspensions.
