Is the NPL worth it in Florida?

What's the level like? I see teams are from far ends of the state and was wondering if it's even worth it

competition is scattered... some teams that are brand new, some who have been around a while. most teams ranked 25+. a couple are ranked in top 15 in Got Soccer (for whatever that means--very little) if your kid just likes to kick ball around and play for the fun of it, then its great. has very little value outside of that... unless you want to brag that you can score a lot on a crappy team...good for facebook and instagram posts...

DA and ECNL are definitely more competitive. Depends where you’re located and how skilled your child is.

I don’t think that’s accurate, at least for girls. I’ve seen quite a few ECNL, DA, and nPL games, and I would say the primary difference at the ECNL level is the size and athleticism, as coaches prefer the biggest and most athletic kids. Skill is only marginally better, with many kids still preferring to aimlessly kick it the ball in the forward direction, without really looking to see if a teammate is there or not. This is done at all levels, looks pretty poor to be honest, but more glaring at ECNL level, because everyone brags they are the “best” but in reality it is an overhyped league by parents who want to believe their child must be superior and on a path to stardom because they play in this elite league. The reality is that any number of kids could easily replace a kid on an ecnl team, possibly even a Rec player if they have a strong quick, are aggressive and run well. There aren’t many possession style soccer teams in FL at the ECNL level, just a lot of direct, kickball style of soccer being played, which requires much less skill. So, many girls are interchangeable from my viewpoint, outside of a very select few who are really talented. Don’t believe me, google FESA, FKK, OC ECNL teams and watch video of games, it’s all there, and it’s not that impressive. I think that is why at Disney some non Ecnl teams beat ecnl teams every year, because of lack of skill at eh “highest levels.”

Not worth it for the silly bad travel... competition is decent depending on age group but not worth driving all over creation for, just go to aim for the top "local" league.

Soccer in Florida is far too fractured for a top "local" league.

I didn't mean a local league with "top" competition, I just meant the best of your area.

Well. You have some weekends where a team travels 4 hours for a single game. So you end up in travel mode for 11-12 total hours per day for a single, 2 hour game. Good times....

                          Doesn't exist in our area.
