Boys DA split into 2 Divisions for 2019/2020

Looks like Revs is East Red and Bolts is East Blue... so MLS and top-performing clubs and non-MLS clubs.

Looks like it is only for the DA Cup, and U15 and above...

Not enough girls clubs and no professional league pushing for it (or professional teams paying for all the flights to games). GDA is still in barely-surviving mode. This first year for BDA will be an experiment and MLS clubs will see if they like it. If they don't they may pull out of the league.

U19 only for now. MLS plus a few other token clubs vs all the rest. The two tiers will have some crossover matches at national events.

Maybe they should have relegation for all the clubs and not just MLS?
If Bolts continues to be second tier then one might consider how far above the non DA clubs they will be?
If they are second tier then why skip high school? why not play for ECNL which is gaining a little ground?
If there are now two tiers for DA, the the boys ECNL is now third tier?

I see non DA clubs gaining on this and the second tier DA clubs losing.

The Bolts have ECNL. Bolts DA gives waivers to play high school. As long as the Bolts keep churning out decent college commitments they’ll keep bringing in money.

Bolts belong in the 3rd tier.

What really becomes of the Bolts ECNL team? They are now a third tier team.
Fact is, it isn't worth having a U18/U19 team since most of them don't show up in the Spring at all.

But people ask for those waivers because DA is the top league - prestige, top competition, playing pro clubs. Now most non MLS clubs aren't in the top bracket. The competition isn't as strong and the pro-club aspect is gone (except maybe at a crossover game at a national event if the team qualifies). They also can't waiver everybody and there's resentment among players who can't get a waiver. This is year is probably an experiment, but if it continues I have no doubt more and more players will question why they're doing it

Being placed in the second tier is a death sentence for a DA club.

So GPS and NEFC are now 4th tier? That sucks.

Crossfire Premier - now in tier II.
                          - Closest opponent is 800 miles away
                          - No league play against local rivals Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers or Vancouver Caps
                          - Travel budget expanded significantly

USSF's way of saying we really don't want you in the league anymore.....and by the way, the Yedlin lawsuit you filed against us didn't help in our decision making process!

From Crossfire’s twitter account, “Not incidentally, Crossfire Premier U-18/19 went 12-2-3 vs. MLS competition last season, while winning the division for the second straight year and reaching the national quarterfinals for the third consecutive year.”

With no pro/rel in this new scheme, it basically guarantees MLS academies Tier I status indefinitely.

                              MLS likes it that way!
