Does anyone have any experience or reviews on the gps performance trackers? The prices are coming down and I’m thinking of one for my kid.

no experience but the Soloshot 3 is about 1000 dollars. If that is what you consider 'coming down' then have at it.
The only issue that I see is that the camera isn't high enough to see the game and the how the play unfolds.

Aside from having video for a college highlight, some like to capture the video the same way some like to take pictures. Many parents loves seeing their children over and over again from early one to whatever unfolds.
I have lots of pictures of my family in my office.
Videos provide the same memories as well.

Get a decent camera and a tripod. Set it and forget it. Enjoy watching the actual game and your kid playing. It's over in the blink of an eye.

I haven't used one either, but I am interested in how effective they are for individual vs team adoption

You don’t need to track your child’s stats when they play League 1/2 Level of NEP. Save your cash.

I agree that soccer development isn't about how many field miles a player covers, but what if the data could be used to reduce injuries? Like pitch count in little league, if we discover cut count makes a difference in ACL tears, would you want it then?

We will be picking up the GPS camera tracker to "automate" game film over the coming year. As others have said, filming games takes away from watching them. Better to pay someone to film or use the GPS tracker.

There are many injury prevention exercises out there. Invest your money in a quality trainer who can teach them to your kid and make sure they so them.
