Since when did the rules change for rostering for Regionals that now allows you to take any players from your club? Even when they played in the same State Cup bracket? In previous years, they froze your roster from the State Championship

It’s shocking that no Connecticut clubs do well at regionals with all the DA and ECNL clubs not attending

Dont need to win championship to go. If winner doesnt want to go, 2nd place goes. Ginga 2004 won, but couldnt go so SCP went instead.

It is a total Rec tourney. The biggest money grab ever. Top 2 teams advance out of your group really ? How much time can one spend in West Virginia? It’s shocking people go. OPI had more college coaches

No doubt they had a great time. Driveable too. Ni one put a gun to family's heads to go.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostSad commentary on the state of youth soccer in the US. It's only "worth it" to go if you're going to be seen by a college coach or if the anonymous masses deem it worthy. How about these kids are playing at a level that is right for their ability or that is what their families can afford and they've made it to the top of that level? No wonder we aren't a soccer nation. We crap on anyone who dares to play with passion and for the love of the sport without worrying about which alphabet soup reigns supreme today.
As far as affordability goes. Dragging kids and parents to West Virginia and incurring the hotels, mileage and meals for a completely meaningless event is far worse than doing the same for college exposure.
There's nothing wrong with playing state level club soccer or even town travel. Everyone has to find their lane in terms of the level they can handle and of course the expense and travel involved. For most kids there's really no reason to travel outside of CT for soccer except for perhaps the occasional fun tournament.
You can't have it both ways though. Don't come on here looking for accolades over the D level National tournament. Most can respect a player that doesn't want to commit to the grind that is involved with ECNL and GDA. No one respects these fabricated "State Cup and Regional Champions" These aren't even the 4th or 5th best teams in most of these states.
