How common is it for kids to leave ? I’m sure the Big 3 Oakwood, FSA and CFC plenty of interest but do players actually leave

We left FSA ECNL a few years ago ..... Couldn't watch them anymore. Absolutely zero value for the product that was being delivered in terms of training and development. Every weekend we sat on the sidelines in dismay that the kids were allowed to consistently make bad decisions with no repurcussions for poor play. The players are better than they show but they must be held accountable and they need to be forced to play better soccer in order for the results to get better.

Is this girls or boys? My son just got an offer to join fsa ecnl, but what you're saying is making me nervous.

Not the poster but no doubt they were talking about girls. Boys ECNL teams are solid. For the most part FSA is a boys club, not girls. Plus, this isn't a lifelong commitment. If your kid doesn't like it or it isn't a good fit there's plenty of other options out there. i made it a habit early on to reassess each kids' situations every year because things keep changing in the soccer landscape and sometimes a player needs something different from what they're getting.

yes - exactly. I learned some hard lessons with my older son about not being overly loyal to any club or team (it's not a two way street for one thing). With my younger one, I now assess every season and take each new year (fall season) as a time to move on (or stay!), but I don't just assume he's staying anywhere long-term. Things are changing way too fast in the landscape and it's very easy to get stuck in a rut.

Girls. I thought the boys played nicely there and was jealous of the coaches they had.

Hoping they start to focus on the girls coaching.

If you're hoping for that you best leave now. It's gone nowhere but downhill and without a complete shakeup top to bottom that is likely to continue.

from u13 up, most of the spots on top teams have been offered out before tryouts. That said, most clubs will keep a couple of spots open in case some unknown amazing talent shows up at tryouts.
