Florida seem to be the only part of country believing that GDA is superior

Why does Florida seem to be the only part of country that believes that the GDA is superior to the ECNL? In most of the country the GDA is falling apart and players are leaving GDA clubs to join ECNL clubs. In the Midwest in particular, states like Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, etc, high school soccer is very important and it is not unusual for the best teams at the best schools to have rosters composed of high level club players. US Soccer underestimated how important high school sports are to kids in those states and that is a big reason why the GDA is failing in the Midwest. In other parts of the country the GDA is doing a little better but is beginning to show some cracks.

So why, if the GDA is supposedly a better platform compared to the ECNL, does it seem to largely be faltering? The bigger question does Florida seem to be so enthralled with the GDA? Many here bag on Prime but in SFla, if things continue as they are with the GDA, it will be the best option for serious players. I am not a Prime person and have no kids there but this is merely and outside observation by me.

Wow, hot take. This certainly hasn’t been covered before.

Thanks for bringing a new discussion to the board....

GDA is new in Florida. Has not been claimed by most rather rejected. Maybe in coming years will get strong. but no where near like California or Texas or other states. They will be just a program thats all. The men's DA side shows some promise granted all those to the YNT level are not from Florida ( maybe one the exceptions from how many DA teams in Florida?

Too much to gamble on DA, there are showcases and all, but they aren't really looking at no one to like U14+, which has to come from strong recommendations from DOC's, coaches, etc to be even looked at for that level of play. Many will make the first two camps but then drop off is superior to the west DA players. One, coaches in south florida are not the best. Very little maybe 1 percent of all south florida coaches actually work, go past their practices and do more and more and imply other things. Others are more there for the monthly check than really trying, but parents live on the fantasy.

Players that make MLS DAs around the country are not guaranteed anything, its an investment being made by the MLS team, and why there are rotations every year for the next one up, they don't owe you anything. Most making it to U17 academy doesn't mean anything either once 18 either they promote you and be a bench or second division player with a salary of $25K annually and then you can call youselg semi-pro player.

In the end of the road, a reality check comes in!

I hope I don’t sound this stupid when I speak Spanish.

I read this twice and still can barely make sense of this.

There's that belief that it's better. Explain the rest of the country and, in particular, the Midwest. It's not like Florida has superior soccer or anything.

Florida soccer is 10 yrs behind it’s like walking into a time warp. My mouth dropped at inter tryouts, I was like are you joking me. All these kids do is dribble no concept of the game, leave there position to chase the ball. It’s really bad
