Ecnl cost for a season is over $8000 when you factor in tournament costs, hotels, flights etc. Stars is more as they have better teams and go to better events.
NEFC DA is more around the $6000 mark when all factored in

100% incorrect. There is marginal cost difference, if any, between FC Stats & Scorpions and they do the same ECNL showcases and big tournaments (Jefferson Cup). All said and done it’s about $7,500 a year.

For most of the ages travel is nearly the same and at least PDA is drivable. All GDA events require flights. ECNL also has more events to chose from depending on what the teams want. At most you're talking about a a $!500 difference, most. For most middle to upper income families that won't be a decision driver. They'll chose based on coaching, fit, HS vs not HS etc.
Ya look how well they fared in Arizona, well worth it and soo much better.
Two points to consider when looking at showcase results.
1. Schedules cluster teams at similar levels.
Going 1-2 playing 3 of the best teams in the country can be a better performance than going 3-0 while playing lesser teams. Of course everyone would rather win, but...
2. The goal of a showcase is to Showcase Players - coaches substitute without regard for outcome. Yes, JD does make sure all players get fair PT. not true at Nationals but definitely true at showcases
So, the measure of how one fares is really an individual outcome based on performance and exposure to college of her interest. Given the daily Coaches in Attendance email, I would say "Ya, Stars fared well".

Bingo, yet there are still people with ECNL/DA level kids who don’t understand that point.
