Match Fit Girls 2007 Try Out

Does anyone know how the Match Fit 2007 tryout went?
Couldnt make the first one and wondering if it’s worth going to the second?

According to the Bucci Spin machine 70+ girls in attendance, was not there so I cannot attest to the quality of the girls there.

I'm sure by 9:00 am 65 of them will be rostered for games this weekend. The Bucci spin machine forgot to say anything about their 2009 turnout last night...oh wait maybe the future isn't so bright....

Don’t forget that STA is going to GDA, which many don’t want, Cryer is leaving Stallions to go to STA so expect that club to dismantle. And Cedar Stars just is crap, so Matchfit is in a great position right now

Speaking of Cryer, has STA made any official announcements? I know Stallions families have been informed of his departure.

Fair points, however all of Cryer's issues aside (to which we could probably dedicate an entire thread), suggesting a club like STA to dismantle over one guy is a bit excessive. No argument that some amount of toxicity and scorched Earth will be laid down, but history has shown that guys like him an Vedder have opened wounds that eventually heal and everyone moves on. The upside is that if they can get it "right" with him people will argue that he and Vedder have people who believe in them and some of their kids/teams are legit, they are just not in a place with a pathway which I assume is what going to STA is about. (my guess) --in that they will bring the A-Game teams at Stallions and Shaun's 05 girls as the foundation of some DA teams at their age groups. Neil Miles was with Shaun at Stallions and it's already public that he'll be one of the DA coaches so the dots are connected.

Matchfit's "great position" right now has nothing to do with themselves really, let's be honest.
They have no track record of developing kids from U10 on (where the 09s are now) as they have let other clubs (like STA) actually develop the kids and then they go to MFA for 3 years to play ECNL, go on to college and MFA claims them as MFA players. Nothing wrong with that model for parents but is dismisses the development other clubs have put into these kids. The right environment and development matters at U9-U13 not brands, and what they have going for them is the "ECNL brand" to attach to themselves. (which they lock STA out of) Bucci may have hired Bently to build the youth program and maybe he's doing a good job only in his second year, but MFA is still behind everyone else in the U9-11 area and their player pool are a few unicorns that show up and everyone who made a B team at clubs like STA that want a spot on the top MFA "pre-ENCL" team.

                2007 Match Fit girls tryout

Like the earlier poster said . The spin machine is working overtime.
There was no way even close to the amount of girls match fit claimed to be at tryouts.
I would say maybe 10 girls that didn’t have match fit uniform on between 2007 and 2008.
Almost everyone there already played for match fit. And seeing the quality of players at the 2007 tryout I would be worried about that age group . It’s no better then playing for a local rec team then for Match Fit at that age group. Maybe the older teams are better but don’t waste the money Match Fit charges for the younger age groups. No development at Match Fit what so ever .

Did you happen to see what their 2009 tryout was like in terms of numbers? I had heard through someone that MFA was boasting to prospecting parents (leading up to tryouts) that they had "40-50 interested kids" ---with "interested" being the operative word there. But I'm wondering how many put their cleats on and actually showed tryout interest.

                    Match fit

I didn’t even know the 09s were there but if they were again I only saw about ten kids without Match Fit uniforms on between everyone that was there.

                      Match Fit

Very disappointed in the quality of the Match Fit 2007 girls team. I feel I was lied to by the staff about the quality of players they claimed to have. Why lie????

Are you on the team already or did you witness the poor quality at tryouts? Either way the answer is the same...no matter what the question is...the answer is always the same ... to take your money

If they didn't lie, they wouldn't have teams. Sometimes it works out, sometimes not.

Ask tough, and direct questions, list them down. If they don't answer, say, you didn't answer the question. If they go on for more than 5 minutes, tell them, you have been talking for a long time, could you please get to the point, because I have more questions.

                          Questions for any team:
                          1) how do you think my child will fit in? how often do you train? how many tournaments do you do? what is the financial commitment?

                          2) will you put this in writing?

                          3) if anything is not to the points you expressed, may I leave, and what is that process once I am with you? how long is your commitment, from what month to what month?

                          4) will you pro-rate? because your club has a history of attrition, will you give refunds when tournaments can not be attended?

I wouldn't go there, good luck!

I agree and wouldn’t go there. Besides from the team not being competitive within its age group , their seems to be a lot of false promises from the coaching staff.
Just my opinion but stay away from Match Fit if you are serious about your kids soccer future.
