Why isn’t FL a better soccer state?

Hard to argue that CA & TX have the best teams, clubs and talent. Both areas have strong DA & ECNL regions, unlike anywhere else in the country. Good weather, large populations and plenty of outdoor fields surely helps.

Looking at college football recruiting, majority of the talent comes from CA, TX & FL.

So why isn’t FL crushing it with soccer?

Because Florida in particular their DA and ECNL clubs always have 3-4 players starting and playing majority minutes because of parents who know people in the club wether it’s DOC , board, coaches etc.

You can get away with it in travel but At that level you can’t do that but no one cares as long as the check clears. Why do you think MLS DA clubs are the strongest clubs? Fully funded don’t have to deal with the BS.

Soon you will see parents with connections in Inter Miami getting their kids in the try outs.

because the coaches are 10 yrs behind, and all they care about is money nobody takes it serious. Forget about DA there are allot of teams in california that are not da, and beat the crap out of them in exhibition matches. the enviroment here sucks

... other places around the country place a huge emphasize in actual skill development at a young age. I haven’t seen that here. Rather, I see kids rewarded for speed and kicking. Kids who have a terrible first touch get selected to top teams, including highly esteemed teams, such as the Weston DA programs. 12 year olds there have little technical skill and even less game intelligence. But, because their parents are from outside the US, they are assumed to be good players. No one, well - very few coaches - work to correct those technical deficiencies. Then, the problem lingers.

I recalls watching a U16 DA team practice — and to my shock, even they would see their first touch on a perfectly smooth, on the ground pass bounce into the air - unintended. Yet, they are in the DA. If players can’t control the ball, that is a problem. More emphasis needs to be placed on development of technical skill - as well as the other crap. That might mean more losses than not early on - but who knows. All I know is that way too many kids on the tops at the top clubs do not have the proper level of skill. That is beyond excusable.

As for California, etc...they don’t have better “talent” as the word “talent” is actually defined - they have better training with proper emphasis on fundamentals than the programs in places like Florida.
