    Respect

    Good morning!

After watching the horrific news this weekend, and being inside during this rainstorm, I have gotten to read this forum.

I am also a lover of soccer. Our son plays competitive soccer, still at meaningful age to get better, and learn about more this "soccer world." I find soccer to be the most beautiful, international and multicultural sport on earth. It is simply amazing what one can do with only a ball and your body. I love looking around to see others who also love this sport of soccer.

What I do not understand is why all of this hate, cursing, bad-mouthing schools, coaches, players, leagues, etc. is happening on this forum? It pains me to see that behind the scenes, there are people observing this sport doing that.

Soccer (and this forum) should be about the love of the game, the most diverse and well respected game in our world. Love soccer, honor soccer, and respect soccer please. Respect the ones that are bringing this sport into the American limelight. Respect the ones who are teaching your children this sport. Respect the time, effort, patience, driving long distances, being an example and a role model for your child. We are all in this together.

If your name is NOT Messi or Ronaldo, then be a respectful learning observer of this sport. I come to this forum to learn, not to read negativity. I am sure that I am not the only one.

    Thank you

Completely agree. (Though I'm not too hopeful of a radical culture change on TS).

Try other forums (where posts are attributable to accounts). I like SoCal soccer, and also d3boards.

I believe it stems from insecurity

Typically if you are in a good place you concentrate on good things. If not, you concentrate on the bad.

So in an effort to create equilibrium, some feel the need to drag others back since they can’t bring themselves up

Love a post that will hopefully stop people in their tracks and make them really think before writing their next post! TS really does have a lot of information, and I've learned about a bunch of opportunities for my kids that I otherwise would never have known about from this board. If everyone could see this as a forum to share positively with others in the community, everyone here would be better off. Thanks!

It's iconic that in a post on respect, I had to type 45s name to respond.

I'm all for playing nice, but the majority of the traffic on the site comes from probably 25-30 people whose kid got some sort of unfair shake (either yesterday or 6-7 years ago) and they have a) an axe to grind against a coach or team and b) a player or two that they think aren't deserving of the attention they are getting.

That is all soccer businesses trying to compete. No parents are wasting their time promoting soccer leagues on anonymous chat forums. By teen years, Most parents know players in several different leagues and are supportive of them all. They r kids.

I appreciate the play by play calls on some of the threads. It's nice to hear an objective point of view when most times the tv talent/commentators are spinning to highlight their team or being negative against the other team.

Agree. However you have to admit some of the posts are hilarious. It's the new psycho-therapy it seems; operative word psycho!
However, I think coaching comments should not be off limits though. I'm not saying get nasty, but to question or offer suggestions, why not. I know some have accused the various soccer blogs being behind coaching changes when different coaches "resign."

No Institution is going to listen to an unregistered soccer blogger. They will listen to their Board of Trustees and/or Donors. If they are saying the same thing in letters to the Institution, that is what is going to cause a coaching change not several bad "unnamed" posts.

I really, really wish people had to log on to post, and that posts were attributed to accounts. And that the boards were moderated.

Or just a troll kicking up some dust. You know that happens, right?

I see some of the same posts on other blogs, different teams, different leagues, different ages, political and not even soccer related.

Lastly, you are dealing with people from the Northeast, mostly MA. We have some vinegar in our tanks always. I think it comes from being over taxed and tea dumping that ensued.

Hahaha. Yes. I'm happy to hear about any of the kids and their accomplishments, irrespective of division, league or position.

Unfortunately, I think that the politics of club, college, league, USSF, ECNL, NPL, EDP, etc. all plays into the keyboard anger.

For what it's worth, there is a lot of traffic on the MA threads over some others. Maybe posts from those not in this area or even with kids playing here are chiming in. Trolls are all over.

there were posts that I thought were coming from someone on my kid's team on a few of the threads. I happen to be standing next to person at games when posts occurred. Obviously, I was wrong.
So totally agree, there are some that try to be posers as well.
