    Sideline gear

Moved here from the South. What do I need to keep warm on sidelines? Do the kids need anything in addition to under armor?

    A jacket and a hat.

We aren't on the moon here.

Get a thin set of gloves, something they can grip the ball if needed, and a lined headband to cover the ears. Bulky jackets, hats and tights are for ulittles

Footwarmers, foy you, definitely, and maybe for your kid (my high school age player refuses them.

My rule of thumb is always to dress warmer than you think you need to. Some people bundle up in blankets in their chairs.

I could not imagine a soccer player wearing footwarmers........

Note that a player after they warm up won't need much more than their standard uniform. An undershirt (some like long, some short) and personally I always wore gloves - as mentioned above something with a little grip to them and not too bulky, for the love of god... Soccer places sell field-specific gloves to wear.

If it's really cold, sometimes an ear warmer.

Tights for some, but I'll caution once you are running around they heat up quickly....

Anything more bulky and you play like a loaf of bread and look like one too...

At winter tournaments a nip is good for the coffee

Agreed for players - thin gloves (thick gets too hot and can't grip the ball), ear bands (hats get too hot and it's the ears that get coldest), under armor shirt and leggings.

How much is your child playing? As we head deeper into October the bench players are not warm. Those long sideline jackets are popular for a reason.

As for you, I like what prior poster wrote - it's not the moon.
                So that you don't think me a total A-hole, here's a tip - layers!
As wind picks up and temps drop to include freezing rain, a lighter weather-resistant outer layer is often far more effective than bulk, Same goes with gloves. You can get warm, but nothing cold is worse than when you can't get dry.

Don't forget the proper footwear for you. You can layer your azz off but if you got skimpy shoes on, you'll freeze. Something from Bean, insulated, waterproof.

I have a blue NY Giants foam finger I can loan you. I'm not going to need it for a while.
