    Orlando City Youth Club Observation

With the way, the MLS side has pulled away from the youth side and the shifting of the DA program to MV, I think it is safe to say that soon the youth club out in Sanford will lose its namesake with the MLS side and get shifted to an affiliate member like the other partnerships they have. I wonder if they will be able to keep afloat financially out in Sanford with the number of players they have lost in recent years.
Do they merge with another club or have they burned too many relationships to work with the other clubs in the area. Could be a tough fall season for them.

I think that is a spot on analysis.
The youth side is on fumes & does not have the juice to make it on it's own.
Bad days are head for what is soon to be formerly known as OCYC

Agreed. I have heard a few times recently that this could be the last year for ECNL holding it's Showcase in Sanford. The current OCYS agreement with ECNL only extends through January, 2019 and there is talk of moving it from Sanford to Tampa to leverage a brand new tournament facility in Tampa.

The main purpose of OCYS is a marketing channel for MLS/NWLS tickets and merchandise. Teaching kids soccer is secondary. The faster you realize this, the happier you be.

Just take it a step further. Teaching kids soccer is secondary to an overwhelming number of clubs across America. It a business.

              Sad

Sad state of affairs at OC. We heard some awful stories from last season, and can't imagine they will hang on to their current decent players. They have no accountability for their coaches, and have done nothing to correct it. That's why players will continue to leave, and talent will continue to avoid their tryouts. Heard it was a ghost town this year. They've made their own bed.

I agree they might have issues but name another club in central that would win an event if you take the top boys team and girls team at each age. No other club around is as strong on both boys and girls as the top OC teams.

The next couple of years will be putting distance between DA and ECNL.

I have seen some of OCYS younger top teams play and though they got a number of good little players, the team had a handful of pure athletes who were physically well above age allowing them to outrun and outphysical competition and off they go with long run and after long run to score goals. That won't work for them when they get to older age groups so hard to say if they are truly developing or pushing for wins with better athletes.

Doubtful. One is coaching girls now and the other is to busy bashing the club on social media and commuting back and forth to Atl United.

Most clubs are putting too much emphasis on size and speed and the younger ages. I have seen this at FKK and OCYS for both the girls and boys where they start and play a ton of minutes for years and watch them slowly lose their advantage as they get older. I have nothing against a tall, fast, ten or eleven year olds. The problem is they are not developing their whole game. Many of these players rely on one foot and a simple push the ball by a player and out run them. There is no incentive to improve when you don’t get subbed out and always start. I have seen players dominate in 8th grade in FPSL and FPL to now be shut down in the ECNL leagues. Some are heading to big schools because they were recruited as freshmen or sophmores in these easier leagues and tournaments and I think will struggle in College. Some Ironically will still play a ton at their club over frankly some better all a round soccer players, yet their game has not changed or developed since they were 10 years old. In the end I think they could be in for a let down when they move on.

It's not only FKK and OC. It's the style of the game in US. That's why US soccer is not getting anywhere.
