Can anyone speak to what effect the new recruiting rules have on showcases and ID clinics for rising freshmen & sophomore female players?

This is one of the major items the new rule is targeting. Absolutely no recruiting discussion on campus with players or parents prior to junior year. Discussions through Club coaches are a work around and players can call coaches but no meetings on campus.Originally posted by Unregistered View Post

They are but the new rules don't go far enough. The phone call work around is an example of that. Supposedly work is underway to adopt LAX rules which has zero contact until Sept 1 junior year. There should be no ID event attendance allowed until summer before junior year either. If they succeed in really dialing back early recruiting, I wonder what impact it will have with showcases; maybe "showcases" for the younger teams go away?Originally posted by Unregistered View PostComment

Define "recruiting conversation". That's the problem - it's not really defined. Nor can it readily be enforced unless NCAA start audio taping lol. And "conversations" via a club intermediary isn't banned either. If players are attending on campus ID events the two parties can also talk, just not about "recruiting."
