What’s going to happen to all the pay-to-play DAs in 2020?

    #2
Nothing because there is enough players for every level. Miami DA will take the best in and out of state players. The question is: how many non DA players could make Miami DA?

Dont worry, MLS will never happen in Miami. There is no way they will get a Stadium deal here. Not in the golf course, no way.

You have Orlando City and still have surrounding non MLS DA. Don't worry Willis DA is fine. Continue on with your YMCA, rec and travel soccer chasing Chinese lead metals especially on how all the kids place those lead based metals in their mouths.

So what’s left at Weston DA and Kendall DA when the top players go to the Miami MLS DA? Miami MLS won’t be pay-to-play, Willis.

Each age group in DA can hold 22 players. Plus, Miami will get players from out of state. Weston and Kendall will attract those players currently not in DA. That simple. What will happen with Juventus, West Pines, etc is the real question? The answer is nothing. They will attract those players playing rec and so on...

So Weston and Kendall will turn into rec using your logic. What’s the point in that?

The better question is: How many current DA players would make the Miami MLS DA if cost is not an issue anymore like it is now?

There is enough talent in Broward and Miami-Dade for 3 or maybe even 4 DAs. I don't think finding quality players is an issue. Other "hotbeds" of soccer talent like SoCal and Texas and even Atlantic coast have 3 or 4 DAs in a comparable area and I think there is much more talent here than some of those areas. We also have the fact that foreign players come to Miami to play and some are pretty good. We do not take enough advantage of this.

What the area is lacking is infrastructure. Every local club or optimist club controls the local soccer fields and it's hard to get critical mass. You almost need a group to come in with millions and create their own infrastructure.

This seems to be what Beckham is looking to do with the new complex and DA.

Like anything, it will depend on the desire, sustainability and backing for kids to play for free to attract the best talent. The problem is and always will be, can the MLS club afford to support the DA fully?

It may be best to recognize that "free" while nice is not practical but a heavily discounted membership would be suitable and leave the "free" to families who truly can not afford it.

It took NYCFC a few years to be mostly funded for the boys and I don't think the girls are free, just discounted. Having it fully funded costs some serious coin. Many MLS clubs support DA by running camps and RDS, but that also takes some time to ramp up and build some decent scale. Tough to justify spending that kind of money when you're getting off the ground but hopefully in short order they can do it.
