Did you notice that the brackets are now divided on one side players with better technical skills and not a lot of size (Brazil, France, Belgium and Uruguay) and the other side represents just strength, size, physical game (Russia, Sweden, England) Croatia may be the exception. I just hope England and Sweden are not in the final. I can't stand watching gladiators playing soccer like England. Long balls and crosses into the box and let's hope something good happens.

A player like Lucas torreira would've never made an USNC due to his size at 5' 6". The scouting system in America where size and speed (kick and chase) come before skills .

my point was that unfortunately several teams that use their physical strength and size got luck in the WC to be in a very easy bracket and one of them will be playing in the final unless Croatia can beat England. The top four teams are Uruguay, Brazil , France and Belgium and they should have been the final four. I hope this WC shows once again that size and long ball soccer does not win Cups. The game is played on the ground..

I hope one of the long ball teams win to show that possession is overrated. Big, fast, physical teams can wear down the smaller teams with constant bumps and bruises.

Originally posted by Unregistered View PostSure, just ask Spain how well the ball on the ground game worked out for them. Same with Argentina and little Messi. Messi is a great little player when he has space to work in. He gets knocked off the ball by the bigger guys. He can't play in the air because when he jumps he is still only 6ft to the top of his head! Ronaldo can play much better with the big boys and his air game is tremendous...he is also 6'-1" tall. Size and speed do matter in soccer and it is being proven in this WC.
