40 something white mother kneels during the anthem for her son who died in iraq

Imagine a time before quarterback Colin Kaepernick began kneeling during the anthem. Somewhere in a small town in the Midwest, a 40-something mother shares with her pastor and a few close friends and relatives that for the next year she intends to kneel during the national anthem in memory of her son who died fighting in Iraq. Many of her friends are moved and join her in honoring her son. The story is picked up by national media and there is a blitz of publicity about the mother, the son and the town.

I’m really offended that you would bring color into this. Why is necessary to say white woman? Is a black womans pain any less than a white person? It’s people like you that perpetuate hate and racism. You should be ashamed of yourself. Furthermore, I don’t appreciate your reference to small towns. Thousands of families from big cities from coast to coast have lost family members. Your narrow mind views are despicable and hurtful!

Will not want to read that. They might have to think. Not their strong suit.

Yet again a Trumpster gets lost in the trees and can't see the forest. Having white people acknowledge and protest police injustice against African Americans is important. ALL of society needs to recognize that police brutality and racism exists and demand change. Now the article doesn't say if she's white but it did say it was a small town. There's also no indication of how she voted. However, Trump's base is overwhelmingly white and heavily rural, not urban. Her small town - who probably mostly voted for Trump - stood behind her. No one is saying anyone's loss is more or less important than another's. Vets and their families support athletes who take a knee during the anthem. Freedom to speak up is something they fought for.

You have a lot more opinions than facts in your statement. You read into things and then write your opinions. In fact, white people rarely protest any police brutality or racial injustice. ALL of society does NOT see, therefore does NOT recognize, that police brutality exists a disproportionate amount of times to blacks than whites. It is a fact that more blacks are arrested than whites. It is a fact that there are far more whites than blacks in this country. If the police tells a white person to stop or they will shoot, they normally stop and put their hands up. If they keep running and get shot then the whites will say they were an idiot to keep running and deserve to be shot! No protests, no knelling during the national anthem, just another dumb white person! That is a fact! Vets and their families do not respect any person who disrespects the flag, fact! You obviously never fought for your country or our flag and what it stands for, my opinion, but very likely a fact too!

You’re not to bright are. That post was clearly meant as sarcasm to prove a point that people are so quick to judge others without educating themselves or knowing the facts and you took the bait. You did exactly like all Trump haters do and ran with it not fully understanding the intensions behind it. Nothing was said indicating that this was a Trump supported but since you didn’t like or agree with it, your little brain deduced it to Trump. That’s amazing but par for the course. What have you done about police brutality besides posting anti-Trump rhetoric? What have you done to combat racism. Buecause all I see is you posting in hate and vitriol. Try being something bigger than a keyboard warrior!
