    Seacoast GDA

It seems a little late in the spring to be announcing the move for next year? I would assume most of their NPL teams are already filled for next year. Are they going to just move them out of NPL and into DA without consulting with the families whether or not they want to commit to the DA league and all that travel? Or have they purposely held off pre-offers because of this move. They are going to have to move quickly though. Anyone from Seacoast have any insight here?

Final blow to the New England Girls NPL. Yankee and Aztec are not up to par. NEFC has its second teams in with stronger regional teams out. Bayside, GPS and SS Selects have to be thinking about moving on. If Seacoast is a good fit than surely SS Selects deserves consideration. Not sure LL wants the girls in high school soccer or not? There has to be a reshuffle of the NPL now and please don’t add some watered down club. Maybe FCUSA?

No idea what the plan is. As a Seacoast parent, I'm so disappointed. No desire to have my D play GDA and we loved NPL level. If NPL remains, will probably be weak and it changes our experience. If it goes away, no option at all. Other NPL teams out of MA are not near us, I don't think GPS NH has a true NPL team. Just disappointed and blindsided.

        NEP/NPL will be fine.

NEFC’s 2nd teams are stronger than many of the other clubs 1st teams. My guess is that Seacoast 2nd teams will be plenty competitive too, and still better overall than Aztec, Yankee & Bayside. Heck, NEFC doesn’t even have all of their top talent on GDA teams and they still play NPL, so who is to say Seacoast girls will want to make that jump either. GDA is a tough sell. My guess most of their DA teams will be formed from girls currently not on there NPL team.

How can anyone spin this as good for GDA? - BBA parent

Most teams in New England NPL would beat local Northeast NPL teams. The league also includes kids who turned down ECNL and DA. Not sure why Seacoast getting DA would affect the quality of the league.

Why do you say that, BBA parent?

Going to Epping will be better than an extra trip to Long Island.

I can say that because the whole point of GDA was to attract the best players/teams. I agree with the other poster that the boys are always bottom of the barrel. Adding a bunch of midling NPL teams does not seem to be the way to go.

Because it's doubtful they'd field both NPL and GDA teams. If clubs couldn't field ECNL and GDA at the same time, with ECNL being a much bigger draw than NPL? Then there's the smaller population area, not the greatest coaching (ask OW how their recruiting went - they got no top CT players).

It just fills a geographic hole left by Stars, that is all. It shows how desperate USSF is getting. It will do little for Seacoast or its female players.

Is not the NPL teams moving up that is the problem, it is the amount of players in the so called “elite pool” that is a problem.

In this market we currently now have

3 ECNL teams & 2 GDA teams. We all know not all of those rosters are filled with the best of the best talent in the market, and that there are also some top players scattered through many NPL teams as well. But here go. We keep adding more teams to the top of a pyramid that not everyone wants to climb. The truth is, we have watered it all down so much that there is no difference between the overall talent on the rosters of all ECNL/DA/NPL and some NEP teams. You can try to sell the league, but all you will be promising is more money and more travel, for the same exact product.

With all the cost, travel AND the league being on shaky ground AND most tryouts at other clubs complete, trying to field quality teams next year will be extremely difficult. Foolish on the part of Seacoast and USSF

Have they already sent NPL pre-offers out yet? And if so, Have they come back and told you if they are now switching the league the team is going to play in, to DA?

Pretty much, those who they are counting on have had conversations and expectations for the coming year.

And, no, I personally haven't been talked to re: DA. Would expect so if anyone was, but one never knows.

They won't uproot our entire team and make them DA. 3/4 wouldn't cut it, a few more probably aren't interested (including us, most likely). Only a few IMO from our NPL team would be a fit.

I expect they are thinking of minimal impact directly on an NPL team and will market this to any club player north of Boston who wants to play DA, and doesn't have any other options.
