    College Commitments

Are we supposed to believe the stats on Top Drawer Soccer? Are we to believe that masses of young girls are getting commitments at very early ages from Solar, So Cal, etc. with almost no one getting the nod from CT?

Are our kids inferior? Do our clubs not help? Are we not crazy enough (hard to imagine on this forum) pushing for our kids? Do they have untold masses of college level players?

Why are we so so far behind these clubs?

    Discuss.

Something is wrong with you if you think young girls getting commitments at very early ages is something to strive for. It’s messed up.

why do you look at early commits as more relevant than say TDS top 150 if you are trying to compare individuals. You can do your own research, but to me , take a look at the top 3 schools by geography. so top 3 west coast , top 3 midwest, top3 south etc. then look at where the recruiting classes are coming from. Not just the early recruits, but all of them.

That will give much better info on quality and where its coming from.

If Stanford recruits early then its highly likely that the majority will be WC players. you get my point.

you can look at it like that or you can say that others recognizing your p[potential so early is a positive. No one is forcing parents ( and it is parents) to commit early.

Of course 8th grade commits are insane nor should they be viewed as some kind of metric. But based on sheer numbers, location, plus quality of clubs out West, players from CO, CA, TX etc do tend to dominate top D1 rosters and NT camps. We're a small state and in reality don't produce many "top" players. In addition, many players in this area will want to stay in the Northeast. That's just how college works. The NE doesn't have a plethora of top soccer programs but some mighty fine schools.

I believe 9-10 kids on the CFC ECNL 2002’s are committed. Nearly all of the 2001 team. Haven’t heard of any 2003’s, but doesn’t mean there hasn’t been any. I think CA kids get a nod because they are outdoors all year. Harder to see the CT kids in the winter.

Yes, they are all headed to Sacred Heart. Not sure that's what we had in mind.

Ive been abroad more than once with YNTs. NJ and MA have players who are in camps and every bit as good as the best out West. Also, the states you mention do not dominate the top College rosters. The best players in the NE do go to the best soccer schools. Duke team of 2017 had several NJ kids as did both UNC and UVA . U-23 team had quite a few local kids - Penn Fusion, PDA, etc. Class of 2018 - Duke, Penn State, UVA
, USC to name a few schools we have kids from her going to.

We tend to drag the down or say they are not as good instead of celebrating and saying they are.

NJ is more mid-Atlantic than Northeast, wouldn't you say? Also, the Penn Fusion kids ... is Pennsylvania really NE?

In a Connecticut forum, I think Northeast really means New England plus New York State.

We tend not to aggressively promote the kids like others do. World Class for example is all over twitter with shameless self promotion on the verbal commitment of their 10th and 11th graders. Our clubs most definitely like to advertise where the seniors are going but are much more understated with underclassmen verbal commits.

I'd prefer it the way it's typically done around. Act like you've been there before and let the kids actually get admitted to the school before blabbing over social media. Top Drawer Soccer is one thing but broadcasting mid major commits for Sophomores is a bit over the top.

Not sure what you mean by “in a Connecticut forum”? By definition, New England + Mid-Atlantic = Northeast. So NJ and PA kids are Northeast kids.

MEH. Tell me first about the Connecticut kids and then second about kids from New England + NYS.

What I mean by "in a Connecticut forum" is the location you are posting: "Talking-Soccer.com > Soccer By Region / State > Region 1 > Connecticut." Does that help?

Sarcasm, I get it now thanks. The original point was Northeast kids, you took it to your own definition of that, which is fine, it’s what you prefer, but was not the original point. I do agree that it’s more interesting and relevant hearing about the CT kids though.

NJ? Where 90% of the population of the entire state is within about 20 miles of NYC is more mid-atlantic than NE?

I love it when there's agreement on TS! Hug and a sloppy wet kiss?
