    GPS Powered of PBSA

After a pretty trying PBSA 03 Boys season.
Made up of silver at best tournaments and b team matches.
The most trying aspect was the disparity between the skilled
and unskilled (basically rec players) on the team.
Although, I appreciated the Coaches to develop players it痴 difficult
to teach Soccer IQ and how to create numerical advantages
to a team where unfortunately some kids should be playing
Fort nite or other video games.

I知 clueless about what the future has to hold with the new GPS
affiliation. Although I heard all the right things were
said at a GPS presentation that was given I知 not sure my son
would want to endure another mediocre season.

Would love to hear from anyone with GPS experience/history
At this point my son has decided he would rather be on a good team without
the playing time but getting developed than the alternative.

First, you come across as a pretty large ****.

Second, go ahead and look for a new team. Sometimes it works out, but other times it does not. While your child may be one of the better players on a mediocre team he will most likely not be on the new team and pretty soon he will be the one the other parents will wish stayed home playing video games.

The GPS presentation was great. Looking forward to seeing how they help develop the club this year onwards and give the kids new opportunities.

They have just had 4 GPS Florida players at FC Bayern which is pretty amazing!

If video games are top of my son's mind and a topic of conversation during a halftime speech from his coach after getting their asses handed to them by a b team, then I believe the other parents on this possible new team would be justified in wanting my son to go play video games.

Will they be accepting every player that comes out to tryouts? If so then nothing changes

That 02/03 team was pretty strong up until a year and a half ago.

I'll bite.... I have no idea about size or quality of PBSA. GPS did take a small club in North Fort Myers and significantly increase its club numbers over a few years, win 2 state cup titles (first club in SW FL to win a state cup) , and get a U12 Development Academy. By small, North Fort Myers had about 4-6 competitive teams mostly coached by parent coaches about 5 years ago.

However, even with GPS its still comes down to coaches/coaching. The company seems to normally hireone or two coaches from out of the area (and probably originally from Europe) that are fairly good and that may have been trained and/or vetted by the mothership up in Mass. Those coaches will get 2 teams each (and maybe a young 3rd team as well) normally in age groups where there are already established numbers for kids. GPS will then backfill with local coaches from the club already or the general area. Some will local coaches may be good others may not. GPS will make an effort to better the club by with marketing, getting use of other fields if needed, attracting better local coachs (offer them more money?) offering additional optional SAQ or Skills trainings and hopefully by the new GPS coaches building good teams (via attracting talent or coaching talent). After a couple of years, and if they establish good teams and increase club numbers sufficiently they will likely push for NPL status and may attempt to push for ECNL and or DA after that. It will not be overnight and likely take a few years if PBSA sticks with them.

However the main point should be, is to decide based on the coach for you kids' age group particularly in year one of GPS. If there is a good coach for your kid and reasonable numbers of similar talent stay, if not, then go find one elsewhere. It will likely be hit and miss for different age groups of coaching quality in the beginning. If GPS improves PBSA in a year or two, you will know and can decide if to come back.

Is GPS perfect? No. However, they do seem to TRY to improve the clubs they are affiliated with to be more competitive.
