    GPS West Caught Poaching

GPS West was caught poaching and is now under investigation with FYSA. Possible 1-year van from all FYSA events. Training with 2004 Girls from other clubs 2-months before tryouts. DF on photo evidence as well and receiving possible 2-year suspension.

Once evidence was brought to light, other clubs had more evidence of other teams as well. They are now investigating tryout process as well. Next year, they’ll only have US Club and could possibly lose USYS affiliation, as well as U12
    DA.

Be careful registering with this club!

Probably just bitter parents complaining whose kid got cut. Or other clubs who are breaking apart. Strikers are a mess. They even changed their "philosophy". Cape has lost 7 age groups in the past two years. And several coaches. They are struggling big time. I would not sign my kid up for either of those. Bonita...? Who cares. Fire lost several players.
Every tryouts season the trolls come out. This happens everywhere: Miami Tampa Orlando areas as well.

      1) It's tryout time and TS anonymous, so let the final rounds of club bashing begin! This time even more so than others, take posts and accusations with multiple large grains of salt. Do research on your own talking with people involved

      2) So called poaching will always happen. If there's the tiniest loophole coaches will drive a semi truck through it. Fact remains if people were happy at their current club they wouldn't be poachable. Often times what might be thought to be poaching is actually initiated by the parents looking for something different

Not a loophole this time. GPS finally got caught. Pictures and written statements from parents involved already submitted to FYSA. 1-year ban is already in works with possibly more as they investigate tryout process. Secret trainings were being held at GPS with other players from other clubs, and now those players are with GPS.

I'ts entirely possible but without concrete proof presented here it's still hard to take it at face value

Will this affect GPS Orlando as well?

Cape Cyclones must really be hurting. They are falling apart, and instead of trying to create a program that gets players better opportunities......and ultimately KEEPS players, they are trolling other clubs. LOL. Look within, and you'll see why players leave.

                Way to go EC.

Its usually Sunrise/Weston baking all the noise during tryout season. Its a bad sign when Cape get in on the trolling game.

Besides not being able to participate in State Cup. It really doesn't affect them. They can still continue recruiting under US Club, since there is no pouching.

This has been going on since they landed in FM, so it’s not surprising. They could care less about the kids! No loyalty.

Speaking as a parent, GPS is the only club that has actual opportunities for the players. And they have been successful in State Cup. Light years above the other clubs in SWFl. And the only club looking to grow. Other clubs make false promises and talk a good game, but which club HAS DA? Which club has NPL? The other clubs can only claim "you'll get good training". But what else can they offer? Realistically?
Facts are facts. I took my kid there and won't look back. Maybe its not poaching. My kid wasn't poached. I registered because it was an easy decision. Maybe its parents and players that want something better. At that point its an easy decision.

Every year there is "poaching". SWFl is to small NOT to. Every parent knows every other parent. Every coach sees those parents at every tournament in the area.

Its just some crap parent or club trying to stir the pot right at tryouts. Why wasn't this posted on TS weeks ago?

It was posted exactly on the first day of FYSA tryouts in order to bash a club.

                            Punish them all or none

I'm not with GPS but another club and I heard the same rumblings about these secret practices taken place. I'm not sure I really care or for that matter anyone should as this type of club hopping/maneuvering happens all the time. It sounds clear that some girls were thinking about leaving their other clubs and wanted to get a feel for GPS before the season ended. I've thought about calling other clubs and trying to go to practice sessions to see how training went too for my kid but eventually did not. Its not like this is high level competitive soccer anyways. It is competitive rec or elite rec and no one cares outside a few clubs in SWFL. This area's clubs are mostly a joke to the laughing rest of Florida. Players jump from club to club all the time. You go where the talented players are and where the coaching/training for you age group is the best.

Anyways if this did indeed break some rules, can be proved and people care enough to hand down some punishment by those in power, the punishment should be for EVERYONE involved not just GPS. The players involved should be banned from playing too. The players and parents knew what they were doing was wrong (claims otherwise would be all lies as these 2004 girls have all been in the club game long enough to know what they were doing)and it would be unfair to only punish GPS. That type of fair dealing would hopefully stop most of this garbage and have players/parents thinking twice before behaving inappropriately. Heck all clubs would do well to email or hold conversations with players and parents about the rules and regulations when you sign for a year with a club and the restrictions placed on you in dealing with other clubs. In addition, what other clubs cannot do with other clubs players.

                              Caution

If this grievance has been filed by Cape, I would be cautious because I know for a fact that some Cape coaches train players from other clubs, which is essentially the same infraction that is being called out here. That’s means those coaches and Cape would also be under the same penalties. This happens at every club!
