    Best clubs north of Boston

I'm curious what people think are the best clubs (preferably NPL or ECNL) north of Boston. My son is an 2004 birth year and currently playing for an existing club, but the club is managed in a way that it's all about revenue and there's no interest in real player development.

Thoughts about the best clubs -- particularly for college recruiting -- would be much appreciated.

There's no club worth playing for until you hit Montreal.

I agree with this. There are some talented players there and good coaching.

There isn't much on the North Shore.

Seacoast isn't really the North Shore. The good programs, and their new facility, are in Epping, NH. Seacoast North Shore is the old Victory program and that wasn't very good unless you were a U13 girl.

BSA might work if you are just looking for convenience (No NPL or ECNL)

Aztec used to be strong. They had a few rough years but they have grown quite a bit in the last couple years and they have nice facilities. No DA or ECNL but they do have NPL...but the NPL is usually middle of the pack of the second tier.

Unfortunately you will most likely have to travel or stick with NEP.

              Aztec probably your best bet.

I mean, they suck but better than the other suck.

NEFC North Shore. Much better option than Aztec.

I wouldn't go with a regional team. Aztecs has some good coaches. Seacoast is not that far.

Do they have a boys team for 2004 on the North Shore? I heard they tried two years ago but couldn't get enough kids to fill a roster.

Yes they do. OP just needs to decide what the end game is. If your son is targeting D2 or D3 then most of the NS teams would fit the bill. Just look at the 2018 commitments list.

Ha, what makes you think a team of that quality has players that can sniff any college ball?

Or, was my sarcasm-meter worn out for the day?

I'm the OP here and I can say that this comment really resonates. We've been with Aztec for a few years and it has gone downhill in a big way. The NEFC website says that have a "2004 Elite" team and I'm wondering if people think that's near NPL or ECNL quality. The goal here is likely D3.

Not sure if you are taking girls or boys, but you can go to NEP website and look at the schedules. See you where what division the North Shore teams are placed. They do have some NPL teams on the girls side (but not at that age group),but I can tell you the Aztec 04 girls team is a weak NPL team and if they could be relegated to NEP Premiership they would be (they are playing in that lower division for State Cup for this reason). Some top NEP teams have beaten that Aztec team. Don’t always look at the league letters to strength of team.

I would suggest that if you do a regional team, that it is at least strong enough to be at in NEP Premiership, and if it is top of that, it will be moved into NPL division anyway. If there are no local teams that strong, than I would look to be willing to drive a bit to Seacoast NPL or to Mendon for NEFC NPL.
