Massachusetts club team beats 2 DA teams at IMG Cup?

How does a regular Massachusetts club team manage to beat 2 USSDA teams at the IMG Cup last month?

The New England Football Club (NEFC) Boys 2001 NPL team beat Chargers SC U16/17 and IMG U16/U17.

NEFC Boys 2001 NPL: 1 vs. Chargers SC USSF DA 2001 U-16/U-17: 0

NEFC Boys 2001 NPL: 4 vs. IMG Academy IMG U17DA: 0

What in the world is going on?

Why do you find this surprising? There are a lot of good club teams that could be DA teams. DA teams are not that good, unless at a MLS club and even then they are overhyped.

Just pretty standard really, nothing to get surprised about.

Crappy DAP coaching is the standard. Talent was probably comparable but I'd guess the club coach (and consequent training) is much better than his DAP counterpart.

Hate to shatter your DA illusions DA dad but year, there are some good non DA teams out there, just as there are some bad DA teams. Having a badge on your jersey isn't always a guarantee of quality. It's one reason USSF restricts DA teams playing against non DA teams - the smoke clears and more people see it's all mirrors

Not saying your wrong, at least half your comment anyway; but do you really think a DA dad parent started this thread?

The disbelief in his post. Could also be a poster baiting others to discuss DA. But I'm going with my gut. Many DA parents live in a bubble and they think nothing comes remotely close to DA. Thing is, depending on the clubs there's a lot of overlap. Same with the players. DA players #14-22 can be replaced by top players from elsewhere, save a few top MLS clubs.

              I found this interesting!

I found this while looking over scores from Disney this weekend. This U15 boys team from Philly is ranked #1 in the nation in GotSoccer points, and had to face 3 U15 DA teams at Disney. They lost 2 and tied 1. Does this help to confirm the argument that the DA is better? I'd say so. Discuss....

Hey now, I'm not soccer "expert" but if you did a little research you'd probably realize what is going on.

NEFC is a DA Academy from U12 to U14. They and two other DAs are feeder programs for the New England Revolution Academy. It's not hard to see why there would be a lot of top players in that area that didn't make the U16/U17 DA team. The idea that there aren't a lot of good non-DA teams is ridiculous.

There is nothing to see here. Unless this NFEC NPL team is regularly beating the New England Revolution DA team . . . so what? Maybe a lot of those players are better than IMG (who doesn't seem very good) and several other DA teams. It's not like those kids are going to drive 1500 miles 4 times a week to practice after getting a spot on a weaker DA team in another state/region.

Nothing to see here. DA teams are comprised of the best players in the Nation. However that doesn't mean that some regions have deeper talent pools (especially in individual age groups) than other areas of the country which make even their elite non-DA teams better than weaker DA teams. Go troll somewhere else bruh.

I'm certainly not lazy. I would call my move a smart use of my time, and downright industrious. You, however, are most certainly lazy. The fact that you knew that I posted the exact same thing on 2 different threads leads me to believe that you have nothing better to do than patrol the pages of TS, and likely work for an hourly wage. Carry on my wayward son!

DA does not mean the best players in the area it just means the players whose Mommy & Daddy are willing to pay the ridiculous fees so they can tell their friends & families on Facebook that their kid is playing for the academy teams.

You are wrong here. The DA teams are not comprised of the best players in the Nation. There are a lot of great players whose parents can not afford the cost to play for the DA. There are also a lot of great players who want to play other sports & playing for the academy they can not do this. If the best players were to play on the academy they would offer scholarships which they do not. Take a look at most of the South Florida DA teams these are not the best players in the area. A lot of these players look to play somewhere else because the cost & the rules are ridiculous. Before you say we are just angry because our kid didnt make it your are far from the truth. My kid was asked to come to tryouts but he knows the importance of playing other sports & knew the other kids that made the team would be a step down from where he was playing the year before. Say what you will because I know how TS parents are but unfortunately DA does not mean the best players in the area...just ask Boca United.

This shows just how little you actually know about DA. DA is no more expensive, and in many cases less expensive than regular travel soccer. Also, there ARE DA scholarships available from both the clubs and US Soccer. In other words, if your kid is good enough to play DA, then cost will not keep them from doing so. I know all of this, because I am a DA team manager for a team with several scholarship players. Do some research before you vomit incorrect information people!

Yeah, you're an idiot with that backwards logic. So I should take my cue from you, the guy who has nothing better to do with his time that copy and paste the same drek all over TS? That's rich. The funny thing is if reading your crap makes me a wage slave hourly worker, what doest that say about you?? That you're on unemployment and collecting food stamps?

As my Cuban brethren would say.......eres tremendo comemierda.
