Reg 3 Premier is so watered down with bad teams "Middle to Bottom", "Top to Middle" is OK., I think the FL State Championships make this a better opportunity for both competition and being scouted. I would switch those.

Always amazed how many college coaches from other states come scout at the Florida State Cup finals. Coaches also scout at the U. S. Youth Southern Regional and National Championships.

FL cranks out some talent. Same with CA and a few other states.

Talent yes but not on the same scale as other states. For every talented Florida player there are five in Atlanta or ten in California in regards to Girls soccer. On they boys side definitely loaded

Oh boy....whatever. You can get scouted at any tournament that college coaches go to. All you have to do is communicate, you must be from a big club pushing your ENCL garbage. Not every kid is cut out for that and certainly not every college is looking for that

Good point. All different level players and colleges. Have you seen some of the smaller college programs and the fan side is one metal bench.

scouting in the us is similar to the good ole boy network... a former player current/former coach calls his buddy the scout... pushes his girl , sells the girl and invites scout to whatever game she may be playing. scout goes, as a favor to buddy , scouts girl and then when girl sucks against real competition, there are no consequences for the scout. I went to ODP 3 years ago and some of the girls that were "invited" for the talent, left ALOT to wonder, I'm sure GDA will prob. be the same ...

not an easy fix, but we cant continue with this system, where, if u are facebook friends with scouts then u are one step ahead.

You and your player are the only ones you should depend on. DO NOT wait to be seen or for your coach to push. Identify the schools you want to attend/play (realistically), write them, send game tape and/or player page, go to the id camps of a couple you really like. Some great academic schools do little or no recruiting at events far away from their home base.

Another issue is soccer players who would like to play at the next level do not have the time or means to attend ID camps. There are colleges out there that might be a good match but there is no way to experience the colleges and know.

Yes financial concerns are problematic and part of the reason why I said "realistic". UCLA is not realistic if airline tickets and an hotel for 2 days is not within your means.

However, if you write a school and they show up to a game, showcase or tournament to see your kid and then speak to your coach or email her directly to attend a camp.....you need to figure out a way to do it if that is one her top choices.

Otherwise there is not point in worrying about playing at the next level.

There could be other top choices in the mix like small private schools in the northeast but will never know if they could be a top choice. No time to travel to lots of colleges to research.

Lots, no. 1 or 2; yes.

Look, I have not walked a mile in your shoes and I don't know the hurdles you face. My daughter chose 10 schools. Narrowed them down to five. Two were up north. I took vacation time two summers in a row and drove. We visited schools, stayed in the cheapest hotels and ate a lot of subway. Considering the highway robbery we pay for club, ecnl, da, whatever.....a couple of hundred for something that will impact her for the rest of her life seemed worth it. Best of luck to you and your kid. Hope she gets to where she deserves to be.

Good parent to be able to use your vacation time around her summer ID camps.
