They're making a move on the women's side. They should make a clean sweep of the whole thing

This ... bad performance snow balls. RR isn't a warm and fuzzy recruiter. Their conference isn't ideal but they should be winning it every year.

They have survived in the past with their international recruits (Canadian and Africans). Now they aren't getting as many of those studs because because of lack of success

With the proximity to high level prep schools (Berkshire, South Kent, etc) they should be getting some studs. Although the way RR has treated some of those kids that maybe known in prep circles.

Prep school kids can and do aim much higher academically and athletically than UCONN. Good school but doesn't carry the cache of many other schools in NE or and down the seaboard. Then there's RR, the lackluster performance (which I agree can snowball), Storrs isn't for everyone...

I think we're now seeing the increasingly rapid unraveling of the entire athletic department due to the conference situation.

No it's the poor performance in the conference they're in. If they can't win that one they shouldn't be in a stronger one. Really only basketball could compete in ACC.

Agreed if men's soccer was winning AAC conference it wouldn't matter as they would be in NCAA every year. Now they aren't winning MAAC and are getting beat by MAAC teams

You are correct ... The highly academic prep kids shot for Michigan and Wake Forest of the world. However, There's a lot of great prep players who aren't great scholars. Perphaps those kids can't qualify for UCONN

Except for the hard core players, most players want to play on a challenging enough but winning program. Playing on a weak team in a stronger conference is not at all enjoyable.

Meant to say not winning AAC conference and getting beat by MAAC teams

RR scares more away than conference. Ray Reid is a pugnacious person. Wish he had Morrone's skill of community involvement. friends of soccer is shadow of it's former self. what was great about UCONN soccer 15 years ago is all but dead with RR

#18 best public university, #56 best overall college. Not elite by any stretch, but they've become a pretty good school. Not so easy to get in any longer as they were years ago.
