    Sportsplex Observations

finally visited the Sportsplex yesterday, was actually surprised how much they have packed in there with all the soccer/baseball fields. The powerlines are not a big deal, very unobtrusive. The fields looked new and well-maintained. Did not step foot in the infamous bubble though. Am I to understand that both SCP and Shoreline share this complex? Seems to me that if they could upgrade that bubble (assuming it's as bad as I've heard) they could have a real FSA-South type of complex if a single strong club took it over. Is this where SCP used to play when they were King of the Hill back in the day?

The baseball fields are beautiful and the outdoor turf fields are new. If they replace the bubble it will be a great facility. Shoreline and SCP both use this facility. Neither of those clubs are managed well. Both have declining enrollments and are not competitive on the field. Ginga and CFC Sound both have access to facilities so it's unlikely they will move there. That leaves only Shoreline Rush as a possible tenant to replace the other two.

The power lines are a problem and the turf stinks. There are legit bumps and the slope is noticeable. Nothing good about the turf fields. Bible is not bad but again very old

what's the problem with the power lines? I thought they are pretty unobtrusive. The turf field we played on was brand new and very nice. If I'm the owner of that place I demolish the bubble, build a legit building, get only one legit club in there, and become King of the Hill.

then make that call, kill off SCP and go with one club. I'm telling you, there's FSA facility potential there.

Turf fields don't drain and the ball floats on the water that's under the turf when it rains heavily.

I thought it was a merger between Beachside and South Central.
BSC - but Beachside made is BSC which is also Beachside Soccer Club

It was a merger on paper. It actually was a forced merger by DAP

Make no mistake BS was the winner

The only thing that matters in youth sports .... they were not winning.

Yeah lol "merger" orchestrated by BS. USSF happy to oblige given SC's poor performance. They needed another CT placeholder. Most SC and coaches were quickly tossed aside, justified or not.

Question above: why did losing DA hurt SC? It wasn't the only thing leading to its demise but it didn't help matters. It doesn't send a good message - kicked out of a league for poor performance. The reasons for their decline and losing DA are the same (poorly run, poor coaching).
