    Braces and Casts During Games

Does anyone know the official rule for braces and casts during NEP games?

I've seen kids in bubble wrapped hard arm casts.

My U14 son has a soft brace for a wrist sprain. It has plastic velcro loops and an internal plastic brace/bar.

Wondering If it also needs to be wrapped.

Might be okay but it’s ultimately up to ref if he/she thinks it is safe.
Rules allow for soft casts and braces. Bring wrap.

Not sure if this is a good or bad thing, but the refs never questioned or inspected the brace.

My son did get called for physical play twice. Not sure if that was due to the brace, or him being a head taller than everyone. It definitely was not a physical game.

I think you are making too big a deal about the brace. And perhaps, you are upset no one is making a big deal about it except you.

Glad to hear he could play. Rules on this are specific to each League, and even then subject to referee interpretation and/or awareness for enforcement. Had some interesting moments in BAYS (yea, yea town soccer) a few years back. Father threatened HS age ref. for enforcing no casts rule

OP here. I'm glad he could play too. He's been dealing with non stop growth spurt injuries, and this was his first full game back.

That being said, I completely get the rules. Bubble wrapped hard casts can still do quite a bit of damage. I'm surprised to see it allowed.

                What an odd response.

Not really sure where to go with it.

Not everyone has an agenda and everything doesn't always have to be so negative. Lighten up.

If your kid has a cast and his arms are frequently in position to do damage to another players head perhaps you might want to have them checked for coordination issues or an underlying medical condition.

Most town leagues (e.g BAYS) explicitly prohibit casts. most US Club leagues allow

Really? Or perhaps a 5 foot 5 inch kid with a hard cast could easily knock out a 4 foot 9 inch kid. Big size differences at U13-U15.

                              Casts should be banned
