    Thorns Academy continues to fail

Such an "elite" program and yet none of their 01/02 girls made the US U17 WNT? Say it ain't so! I thought Thorns Academy was the pathway to the USWNT and to PRO???

Same Oregon girls & same Oregon coaches so can't expect anything to change. Our best are big fish in a very small, muddy pond. GDA officially hasn't started yet though. Luckily NorCal top girls didn't go GDA though so league play should be easy for Thorns GDA & Oregon girls will get a hefty amount of kudos, awards, looks & call-ups - at least from our region. Problem is enough SoCal & other top girls also went GDA nationally in their own states so it's not like our girls really have much of an edge. It's subsidized and they will train much more than non-GDA teams though so those Thorns Academy girls should go far. Just wait and see.

That is an ignorant comment considering the Thorns Academy DA program just started.

In three years the thorns adademy had gotten one or two college signings. This is not good but its not terrible either if the girls are just out to have some fun and play soccer

Oh god. Thorns has been around for half a decade. Same ole same ole. Girls really are only in their prime for two years of their high school years for recruitment to decent schools. I feel so bad for the families that have put all their eggs into the Thorns basket with the golden egg promised. Good luck - you are gonna need it. It will take more than a half of a decade to fix it and prove it's fixed, but go ahead and make your girl the guinea pig. Hopefully she's not the one to convince you of your ignorance years down the line. Maybe she doesn't have other options?

With the Timbers/Thorns connections, I'm sure they all have verbals to top D1 colleges. No need to advertise it and make ecnl players jealous. Tobin Heath is also one of their coaches. Can't beat that.

That's why everyone quits. Nobody sticks around.

But if your goal is to just have fun it's ok.

Thornz Asylum is entering its 4th year. Should be seeing results by now. ECNL clubs are fulfilling their mission by putting dozens of girls in college soccer every year. Thornz haven't managed to get even one girl into community college so far - and USWNT is light years away for the talent level they've been able to attract...

Heath isn't even a top player in a watered down NWSL. And she has no coaching experience. Yeah, you CAN beat that.

Exactly correct - Thornz Asylum is the option of last resort.

The Beaverton cup was fun and got a trophy. Super low level tournaments last year was not good developmentally but who cares when you are winning. Have to look at the bright side.

Thorns are now only playing in the tier one division called US Soccer Development Academy. It's subsidized and the program takes care of everything including top competition. No more Beaverton Cup. Beaverton Cup is still a top local tournament though. Nothing wrong with that. Beats BSC's 3v3.

What's Tobin's coaching record? How many state cups, regional championships, or tournaments have her teams won?
