    ODP region 1 tournament

How did CT girls do at the region 1 ODP tournament this year? 17s and 16s should have been strong, especially given the 17s success last year. Plenty to build on from last year.

Roster is thin on talent, especially the 17s

17s did fine last year, as posted here. Was thinking about having my kid join this season, decided not to. What happened? Build on last year's success?

Odp is dead. Just look at the inactivity. Hey cjsa, shut the lights off

We caught a couple of bad breaks and didn't advance out of the preliminary round (U17 girls). We were stronger than the teams we played, and they were lucky.

            U16s did better.

I hear this a lot and have to suggest that over a series of games you really are only as good as your record. For an individual game, stuff happens, but not over several games. Even for an individual game, if one play makes or breaks you, then why didn't the team step up more on all of the other plays?

Did they make any cuts to the pool prior to the tournament? Isn't that how it usually works?

Right. If the other teams didn't get quite as much luck, or a couple of reffing mistakes hadn't happened, we'd have advanced with authority.

Last year, after the 17s earned advancement to the semis, they benched some of the 17s and brought in 2-3 16s instead. Probably, they did the same thing this year,

Well those things, of course, and had we scored a bunch more and defended better to prevent tons of their goals.

On 16s, there were about 40 in the pool and 17 made the tourney team. They beat Virginia 3-0 and New Jersey 5-2 but lost 4-0 to Eastern Penn. Magnus didn't want to move on to the regional semis because he and some of his players were going to an ECNL event that same weekend. All they needed was to score a goal against Penn or lose a close one to advance. Knowing you don't need to win to advance, how does a coach allow four long balls to get behind the defense? Because he didn't want to win. He told the the girls after the game that they played like crap but the good news is they didn't have to go to the regional playoffs. Good news for who, him? That's the kind of attitude needed to make CT ODP great again.

Some CFC ECNL coaches are known for throwing games or simply not caring.

You seem to imply he did something to ensure the loss. How? He's got 11 players on the field and I'm sure they were all busting it out there to win. Even if some of them play for him and would actually follow an instruction to tank, the rest of the kids wouldn't.
