Great. So out of state teams and college coaches have to travel at Thanksgiving, one of two most costly times of year to travel vs x-mas to New Years. Stop trying to loop it around a holiday and you may get better attendance. They're competing against so many other events nowadays (teams can only afford to do so many) that they need to have a reason for being, not just a reason to make money for themselves.

Disney always had the Junior Showcase at Thanksgiving and adding in the older the groups at the same time is good for clubs and coaches. Teams up north need a holiday week to make the trip worthwhile. Is the move because ECNL and DA showcases are around Xmas?

        You clueless trolls.

The NCAA women's college coaches voted to have a dead period from December 1 - Jan 5th. Disney moved the girls to Thanksgiving and the girls ECNL showcase in Sanford will be in the middle of January.

That's all fine - I get why coaches would want time off coming off their season. But the problem with Thanksgiving is

            1) coaches are JUST coming off their season then, so no help to them there
            2) doing it around a holiday that's important to many families, and costly to travel as well. It's also a tighter vacation window while x-mas is more flexibility

The Dec holiday window off is longer for families and coaches to take longer vacations not related to soccer. Healthy for all to have a long dead period.

Coaches are busy recruiting all spring and part of summer, also running or attending ID camps in the summer; start training early August, D1 still runs a partial schedule in the spring.

What another poster is saying is coaches wanted Dec 1 to Jan off yet now Disney wants to be the weekend of Thanksgiving when their seasons are JUST ending makes no sense and it's a lousy time to trave. Granted Disney is becoming a lower level recruiting event anyway, but this will make it worse. I can see more out of state teams dropping out as well.

Why do you care what Disney does? If it is lower level, you don't have to go.

BDA is usually FL early December. So if that gets moved for the new off period it would probably go to January also. Then Sanford in January as well? January wont' work for any waivered FL kids.

Here's the thing - college coaches are busiest in the fall. They do some recruiting (usually if they do its the assistant coaches) but really the bulk of all recruiting events is once their seasons are over. So why not move all HS seasons across the country to the fall, let kids play HS if they want, let them do DA if they want, and the HS soccer issue is solved.

Yeah I know....makes too much sense.
