    There Goes ECNL

With the GDA U19s roster published, it's safe to say the ECNL team is shattered.

CU loses one player from a roster of 25. FCP loses 5 players from a roster of 26. That equals "shattered?" Ok.

Looks like quite a few from FC ECNL to GDA in the 03 group as well.

Ecnl teams will be fine. Gda teams will be fine. Club travel teams will be fine. A little bit of swapping around and off they go to another year of Oregon soccer as usual.

^^This. ECNL and academy parents, understand this. Your days of competing to be the best team in Oregon are done. No more state cup and no more Oregon leagues. You are in national leagues now and winning isn't the teams' primary goal. College exposure is. So quit this silly argument, be happy wherever your kid landed, and enjoy the ride while it lasts.

GDA is not for college exposure. Many girls will not even get off the bench for the limited amount of showcases. Those that do get off the bench may get a few minutes here and there. The primary goal is National Team.

Next year is a different story and as the fees will skyrocket.

Not an ECNL parent. Not an academy parent. But just shush. Everyone has made their decisions. There are pros and cons to all programs. Enjoy where your kid landed and quit being so critical. It'll be over in a few years so enjoy it while it lasts. If ECNL turns out to be awful that's a problem for the ECNL families. If academy turns out to be awful that's a problem for academy families to worry about.

Ah, the latest desperate claim from the ECNL boosters trying to strangle the infant GDA in its crib--the low subsidized fee ($2000 including all travel and other expenses) is but a loss-leader; and next year the full cost of the program (or close to it) will be born by participants.

Any evidence of that? Or is that based on the belief that GDA is acting like a predatory monopolist, trying to undercut the local competition (ECNL), and once that is gone (really, we thought that GDA was no threat) prices will go up.

If GDA did such a thing, that would likely be a clear violation of anti-trust law--not just a civil case, but a potential criminal one. But offering a better service at a lower price is not against the law. Just operating at a loss in order to put a less-well-capitalized competitor out of business, then jacking up prices afterwards.

You don't need to keep defending your program. Rosters are full and everyone should be happy where they are. Let's stop the silly arguing and move on.

Not my program. But I would agree--silly season is over.

5 of the top 10 - yes that's going to hurt.

And they haven't even "lost" those players yet. Many of those listed aren't actually going to sign on with the Thornz Asylum, they were just there to see who else was there.

If the primary goal is National Team then why bother with Thornz Asylum at all? There isn't one girl on any of those rosters that will even get a sniff at the National team, ever.
