    NEFC field in Cranston

If the local community actually allows this deal to go through, then it's a big coup for NEFC. Obviously looks like their Southeast region is pulling away from the Fall River area and planting itself firmly in RI. Wonder that means for their players from the FR/NB area though. Don't see them coming all the way to Cranston. Perhaps they head north to Taunton for Metro South region instead?

Community spoke up and Cranston caved to the pressure. Deal is dead.

What tax payer in any RI city is going to be ok with some super club from MA coming into its backyard to exploit them for fields. Its one thing to rent a field for an hour its another to own exclusive rights to it for 20 years. Never going to happen! NEFC will need to buy land which won't be cheap and will kill any idea of a turf field for that club in RI. Will need to look in south eastern MA DR or Swansea for cheaper land.

Buying the land is the cost driver in these deals. That's why places like Wide World South have a lease of land from the State for pennies in the name of creating jobs. Terrible deal for the state but a sweetheart deal for Wide World. NEFC was looking for the same.

Simple, DT owner of Tidal Waves is about to go under. Prime for a buyout.

Goes to show you that giant out of State clubs such as NEFC planned to come into a local tiwn soccer area and destroy a local league like CLCF and maybe a few others.

DT doesn't own the land. Land belongs to real-estate developer in very desirable neighborhood. If any thing happens to those fields it will be housing development. NEFC going to need some farm land in the middle of the woods or going to pay through the nose for commercial land in a city. Good Luck

Stop calling them out of state based on their main office. NEFC has players from all over New England. A field in RI would be used by the southeast region which is heavy with RI players who have been traveling to MA for training for years! As far as ruining a town program, there are RI only premier clubs, have they ruined the towns they are in programs? Many NEFC players still play for their town programs, something to be proud of for the town players that are getting more development and opportunities. Should players just be held back??
Cranston wasn't meant to be. NEFC will move on and players will still sign up.

If NEFC moves to RI, will they add NPL teams to the region? Some of the Southeast teams could compete in NPL.

Regardless of their field location, they are already in RI. All their Southeast teams are made up of majority of RI players, and therefore considered RI teams, and will compete in RI State Cup. Has been this way for years and field location is not what constitutes state affiliation. That being said, it is also not what decides NPL qualifications. Nothing to do with location. There are supposedly some NEFC North Shore teams qualifying for NPL next season. Not sure about Southeast, but I assume they have to win top NEP Premiership to first even be considered.
