    ECNL and NPL Rosters

Oakwood and Yankee NPL teams have 18 players but FSA and CFC's NPL and ECNL teams have on average 22-25 players. I thought NPL teams can only bring 18 to games? I believe most tournaments have roster limits of 18. Are players 19-25 basically practice players who never get into games? Why do they have so many on the roster? How many NPL and ECNL players can be on a game roster? If you have a player on one of these teams, please explain how this works.

Every year teams have kids out with injuries....concussions, acls. Rarely do you have everyone healthy. Cfcu uses the u18 composite team to solve some issues as well. If everyone on the u16 or 17 ecnl roster is healthy, you bump some kids to u18 for the weekend. Problem solved.

How many players can dress for an ECNL game per league rules?

18 just like any other league. Kids get moved around when other teams are short. Healthy ECNL players all got two games for the first weekend at CFC. Down in FL in December, CFC registered a u18 team but no u18 players attended. It was used as an opportunity to ensure that all ECNL kids got 3 games in.

CFCU has faults just like any other club but they try to do the right thing for the kids. It sometimes results in having to listen to dbag OW parents crow about JeffersonCup. Every kid that traveled to VA got equal playing time. It hurts results but it's the right thing for showcase events.

PS. The FSA dirty laundry should really be taken up with club staff directly

No, it should be aired out here. People should know what type of club they are getting involved with. Once you make the decision, it is hard to pull the plug and start again at age u15 or above. When they do something like allow a coach to coach their own kid unchecked at the expense of other paying customers, it reveals a lot. Why not share with other potential buyers.

Could not agree more. And coaches at this level have no business coaching their own kid. Heard it did not go well at OW and heard it is not going well at FSA. Parents just cannot be impartial with their own kids. It is human nature. It at this level it should not be allowed. Any club that allows it should be ashamed so yes this site is exactly where people learn this.

Except that they don't - take a look at CFC's website. Almost every roster is 20-22. Yes still on the high side but not 22-25. It's an important issue so I did my homework before my D tries out there. Good to know no CFC coach has a kid on their own team :) but I have to say FSA's rosters are more manageable and family favorites aside the kids probably get good PT. Big questions will be if OW has multiple departures to either CFCU or FSA what will the #s look like?

Oakwood has already lost a bunch to CFC. A few will go to FSA. Can tgey sustain any more lost players

U16 CFC ECNL has 24 players, u16 NPL has 21 players = 9 players sitting each game. Told parents they are only rostering 20 per team, is there that many injuries? Playing U18 composite is waste of time.

Don't exaggerate. The 2003 team lost 2 to CFC ECNL, 2002 lost 2 to CFC ECNL and the 2001 and older ages lost none to CFCecnl, maybe a few to FSA or CFC NPL if the Oakwood NPL team isn't good.

                      4 out of 60 isn't bad.

Agree. HS season does a hit job on many players. Last year's CFC U16 had 22 players rostered. By Dec 1, that was 19 with 3 ACL's in HS play. By end of March, 3 more down with knee, ankle, concussion. Played most of the spring season with 14 or 15 due to the short-term injury, or school/social conflict. Never had to worry about the 18 game day roster.

You can be sure they weren't the bottom 4

Good players but Oakwood will be just fine with combined age group teams. There's also another open training session in late April for some outside talent
