    The team or just another team?

    So the Boston Breakers Academy has set up another GDA ID clinic for Lancaster this week. This made me wonder how this is all set up at FC Stars and the Stars site had some good info.

    Since Breakers/Nefc are out of Ecnl and their top team is now GDA and Stars is Adding GDA on top of Ecnl will the BBA GDA team be the GDA destination in Massachusetts and Stars Ecnl their first team? (Given their gda q and a says no waivers to anyone, private schools it would appear as well) Will Breakers give waivers?

    Seems tryouts at these two clubs are going to be meaningless this year for any top tier players.

    Why would any Stars players who are committed, playing for a quality public HS or private bother with gda? Their GDA seems destined to mediocrity in HS bands. BBA on the other hand has no second option. Possibly girls leave for Stars Ecnl and weakest Stars Ecnl players get shuffled to their gda to 'develop'.

      When is the next Stars gda clinic? Maybe they are all set and Breakers isn't and are looking to fill out vacancies of their loyal following who may not be so loyal in the end.

        FC Boston gets its revenge and takes back all their old players and the Boates guy comes back to coach - lol - Nefc returns to maple.

          The Stars Q&A says they are building more fields and a clubhouse as early as summer. Anyone know how many fields they will have total?

            They are buying the fields at Lancaster and the ice cream shop too.

              LMAO, and their bringing David Beckham and Mia Hamm as CO-DOC's, Pele will be the Boys Director, Abby Wambach as the Girls Director and Tim Howard for the Boys GK and Hope Solo for the Girls GK.

                Not a stars fan but, I like the option of GDAP for the girls that are committed to soccer and that's their thing. Also having ECNL as an option for the players that want to to other things in their life while playing soccer at a high level.
                The only thing which I get it is that clubs will take on players to find out the roster that maybe shouldn't be playing on that team. I think it's just extra money for the flu to take on a player. With DA is the roster going to be 22 players? Is/are stars/breakers going to take a max roster? If this is truly the elite level I would hope that if players are skilled enough don't just take players to round out the roster. Would seem to defeat the purpose of the league.

                  Based on what I've heard Breakers would have 18 players and then have up to 6 players that can swing. Those 6 players would practice and play in the Fall to fill in for waivers (especially on the older teams), and then they would play NPL in the spring. I agree it really doesn't make ANY sense to have 22 on a roster. That is purely about profit and not development.

                    But the Stars FAQs say no waivers- is that just the position they're taking publicly because everyone will ask? Looking at what happened with the boys, first it was "no waivers", then "waivers only if you're on financial aid at a prep school", and then "waivers if you're good enough that we need you to win."

                    And why in the world would the 6 swing kids do that?- would have to be that your HS soccer experience sucks. Otherwise, you forfeit the fun of playing HS for the privilege of getting kicked to the 3rd team once Mia shows up.

                      Ug - whoever would take those 6 spots must have desperate parents - not a good situation by any stretch.

                        Maybe the want to be the best soccer player they can be and the idea of playing for a club like FVB makes them puke.

                          FVB? FCB maybe what was meant. I get the 'maybe they want to be the best soccer player they can be' part. So these 6 kids train with the current ecnl players less the 4-6 waiver players and a bit better given the 2 yr age band. If your d is in the young side these young kids given the birth year shuffle could make a 2 year jump by GDA initial start. That would be worth it.

                            Boston breakers, not stars. If your high school experience sucks than maybe it would be worth it. In the spring you move to the SECOND team, which would be NPL. Breakers will be giving waivers, but the ONLY way it makes sense is if you have a HORRIBLE HS program and are willing to give it up.

                              It is tricky with waivers because kids cant play DA while doing HS, so with a small roster as it is, at least it should be, they cant afford a number of players missing from games or training. Stars q&a said no waivers, and a small roster of around 16. Substitution rules only allow for use of 5 subs max per game. Any more than 16, and kids sit out.
