NorCal Dad writes piece about GDA/ECNL w/maps

Interesting perspective coming from a Dad who admits he is pro-DA. I am guessing his daughter was cut from one of the ECNL teams and is hoping DA takes off. Interesting he also states that NorCal will be a bit slower to flourish in the DA because some of the stronger teams like Mustang and San Juan and Santa Rosa are staying with ECNL. He mentions that DeAnza a very strong girls club will need the other clubs to eventually adopt DA bs ECNL, but this piece was written prior to DeAnza coming out and announcing they are staying with ECNL and opting out of DA

That's a funny line, but you may be right; you are 'guessing' or 'hoping' since 'I am guessing' that your DD plays for FC or CU.

I liked the financial diagrams for the nation and for his area.

Not guessing or hoping. The reality is many of the top teams have opted out of DA, what was once watered down will now be underwater. Many people have said Oregon needs one truly elite team and now the top talent will be spread out across 3 clubs

                  Some 5. Don't forget GPS for 03G.

I'm all for options, but I just don't see Oregon being able to handle much more.

There are only 2 options in Oregon. Neither GPS nor Thorns Academy are legit contenders to anything other than the OYSA Rec championship.

GPS 03s move on to NPL Nationals this summer and won FWRL. They are now ranked higher nationally than either of the ECNL teams in this group in Oregon and they earned it by competing and winning, not putting a patch on their sleeve. After they win State cup they may actually rank in the top 50 nationally (right now they are 53rd). I would say that makes them a legit contender. GPS is legit and also has college pathways that placed several kids this year. Not an avenue to be overlooked or so easily dismissed. Players there have to commit, train hard and earn it though.. so not for everyone.

First of all congrats for your accomplishment. Don't hang your hat on GotSoccer rankings as most of the top teams do not play in GotSoccer events. There are certainly different layers of success. Good luck at NPL Finals, but if you want to see how good you are then play in the Premier bracket at Surf or Disney. You may also want to try your hand at Mustang.

NPL is good, but even close to the Champions bracket at ECNL and also not even close to Premier bracket at surf

Funny that you assume the top talent is already spread between two. Not even close. Top money? Maybe. Top talent? no where near.

True that. But it's all just a watered down mess regardless. Making American soccer great again right? lmao
